Morning, everyone!

Well, that the Freepers hates them some Islam is no news, but the reactions to their heroes’ disapproval of Koran burning are well worth a look.

Let’s spin the lock on that big metal door and have a look, shall we? Here we go!

We’ll start out with –General Betray-us!

Gen. Petraeus: Dove World Outreach Center’s ‘Burn a Koran Day’ endangers US troops

The United States’ top commander in Afghanistan has warned that a
planned Koran-burning event in Florida could put US troops in danger.

Gen.
David Petraeus added his voice to mounting protests from both the US
and abroad over the Dove World Outreach Center’s plans to burn Korans on
Saturday to mark the anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.
His comments ratcheted up the pressure on once-obscure pastor Terry
Jones to call off the event.

The controversy comes as some
120,000 US and allied troops are waging a counter-insurgency campaign
against the Taliban in Afghanistan, a campaign whose goals include
winning support for the US-backed government from the largely Muslim
population.

General Petraeus said that burning Korans “is
precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause
significant problems – not just here, but everywhere in the world we are
engaged with the Islamic community,” according to CNN.

“”It
could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort in
Afghanistan,” Gen. David Petraeus said in a statement issued Monday …

“Even
the rumor that it might take place has sparked demonstrations such as
the one that took place in Kabul yesterday,” he said. “Were the actual
burning to take place, the safety of our soldiers and civilians would be
put in jeopardy and accomplishment of the mission would be made more
difficult.”

“Mr. Jones, the pastor of the center in Gainesville,
Florida, has touted the activity as “International Burn the Koran Day.”
Jones also authored a book titled “Islam is of the Devil,” which has a
Facebook page and Twitter account.

And now – the Freeper collateral damage. Not exactly exploding heads – more like the impotent whine of a goggie that has become used to being fed by someone who one day just hauled off and kicked him instead.

I wonder when Petreaus is going to figure out that there is no such thing as a “moderate” muslim.

I wonder when you’re going to figure out that the closestyou ever got to Iraq and Afghanistan is hooting and flinging feces at them on Free Republic?

To: thethirddegree

How does he think our soldiers who are Christian felt about having bibles confiscated and burned by our own military?

And when will he admit we are at war with islam. Islam is the
problem. Muslims don’t need an excuse to riot and kill people. Muslims
murder other muslims, including women and children, every day.
Appeasement is not the answer.

That’s right. Islam is a disease that needs to be wiped off the face of the earth.

Good luck with that, twinkletoes. You’re going to need one heck of anEinsatzgruppeto murder that many people.

What endangers our troops is having them in Afghanistan at all
when Peetreus(sic) himself has said that the goal there is to make an
accomodation with the taliban and allow them back in power. This is
crazy.I say bring the troops home now!

I suppose these flip-flopping fuckheads are all gonna link arms now and start singing Peter, Paul, and Mary songs?

Unless, of course, your whole army is surrounded by an enemy that hides in plain sight, and you are safe on another continent.

Oh – and while you’re at it, shoot a bull with a dart gun (from the safety of behind a fence) that’s standing behind a U.S. soldier who’s bent over tying his bootlaces.

That’ll show them you’re not afeared!

I think General Petraeus wasordered by Caligula to make that statement. I do not think for one moment that he was speaking his own thoughts.

This is still America. You can burn any book you want to.

And, by
the way, generals do not have the authority to tell American civilians
what to do.

Christianity is not spread by the sword, period.

Islam is. Removing that sword from the throats of of its victims would be a gift to the people of those countries.

“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them
to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing
only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we
killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war.”

Converting them to Christianity by sword is impossible by very definition.

Converting them to Christianity by sword is a straw man of your own
invention. Removing the sword of your beloved Jihadists from the throats
of their victims would be a gift to the people of those countries, as
much as the prospect of their deliverance upsets you.

What straw man? You propounded support for just that with your
approving quote from Coulter, who usually does well but really stepped
in flaming manure with that one.

Of course, it’s hard to tell where the manure stops and the Coulter begins – otherwise a good analogy.

Reminds me a bit of something I once posted to alt-religion.scientology:

Scientology “handles” the internet :

“Commander Miscavige – there’s a flaming paper bag on our porch! What are your orders?”

“Go stomp on it and put it out.”
