Claire’s growing her new, fluffy winter fur and putting some December pudge on.
She’s still a teeny tiny hamster, though.
Too much eggnog?
Not enough eggnog?
Festivus treats for the ferret?
Two weeks ago today, I lost the first cat of the Casa Black Sheep pride. She was 13. Her papers-name was Dyna. We knew and loved her as TwoCat aka TwoNess. She was this beautiful long-haired tortoiseshell, whose personality was grave and ladylike, and whose behavior was dainty and delightful.
She spent three days of her last week in the animal hospital, with the best vet in the explored universe trying to help us overcome what looked like a nasty case of sinusitis; in fact, she beat that.
But the postmortem revealed that what looked on X-rays like pneumonia wasn’t, and in fact that mass had encircled her esophagus and was stopping her breathing and eating. So today I am feeling a bit of nostalgia for my missing girl, and unusually conscious of the temporary nature of our furred friends’ tenure among us. Only one of Casa Black Sheep’s remaining 8 feline residents is less than 10 years old, and she actually belongs to No. 1 Son who has promised to relocate her to his 3-hours-distant apartment soon.
oh poor twoness. she sounds gorgeous. 13 is too damn. young. pansy was only 13. cosmo was only 10.
thank you, pansypoo.
I like to think she had good years.
I’m so sorry, BlackSheep. Hopefully Joey and Fox and Stripe and Puck have found her in the Meadow and are showing her around.
