Once Driver of ‘Cain Train,’ Herman Cain Now on Board for Romney

Yahoo News/ABC OTUS News ^

| RUSSELL GOLDMAN

Posted on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 3:47:21 AM by kingattax

One-time GOP primary front-runner Herman Cain, who exited the race
amid spiraling allegations of sexual infidelity, hears no call from the
campaign trail after his failure to make it all the way to this week’s
Republican convention in Tampa, Fla., he said today.

“No, I don’t
[miss campaigning,]” Cain, a conservative radio host and former
pizza-chain CEO who momentarily led the pack of GOP candidates before
dropping out in December, told Terry Moran of “Nightline.”

“It’s
always bittersweet when you compete in anything, but I said from the
very beginning, whoever gets the nomination, I am going to support them
fully,” Cain said on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention
in Tampa, Fla.

Cain, who briefly tapped into a party then
frustrated with Mitt Romney, was not invited to speak at the convention,
a snub he says doesn’t offend him. “I’m not going to be participating
with the formal convention program, but it’s not about me,” he told
Moran. “It’s about giving exposure to some young stars who are running
for office.”

Cain’s road to endorsing Romney, set to be nominated
later this week, was a long one. After dropping out, Cain, 66,
initially endorsed “the American people,” before throwing his support
more directly to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. It was not until
May that Cain endorsed Romney.

SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY POLL SHOWS WARREN OVERTAKING BROWN FOR U.S. SENATE

Suffolk University ^

| 09/18/2012

Posted on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 11:48:14 AM by SeekAndFind

Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren (48 percent) has overtaken
incumbent Republican Scott Brown (44 percent), in a Senate squeaker that
still falls within the margin of error, according to a Suffolk
University/7NEWS (WHDH-Boston) poll of likely general election voters in
Massachusetts. Eight percent of those polled were undecided or chose
someone else.

These results contrast with a Suffolk
University/7NEWS poll conducted in May, when Brown led Warren 48 percent
to 47 percent, with 5 percent either undecided or choosing someone
else.

“Fresh off a new TV ad buy and a prime time convention
speech, Elizabeth Warren has improved her popularity and overtaken Scott
Brown head-to-head,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk
University Political Research Center in Boston. “She enters the debate
phase of the Senate campaign as the slight favorite, but the race is
still fluid, and to win she must avoid peaking too soon.”

(snip)

Favorability in U.S. Senate race

Brown’s net
favorability was +31 compared to +30 in May, virtually unchanged.
Warren’s jumped from +10 in May (43 percent favorable to 33 percent
unfavorable) to +19 today (52 percent favorable to 33 percent
unfavorable).

Brown’s cross-over support also is waning. In May,
24 percent of Obama voters said they would cross parties to vote for
Brown, but today 19 percent said they would cross over.

“The
Democratic National Convention appears to have connected the dots for
some voters in Massachusetts,” said Paleologos. “They’ve linked Barack
Obama, Bill Clinton, Elizabeth Warren and Congressional candidate Joseph
Kennedy, whose district includes Southeastern Mass. Warren benefited
not only from her own speech, but from the oratory of others, both
inside and outside of Massachusetts.”

One poll finding that could
tip a close race back to Brown is the preference of general election
voters of all parties for having one Democratic and one Republican
Senator in Washington. Fifty percent said there is a benefit to having a
member of each party representing Massachusetts in Washington DC, while
45 percent said it didn’t matter.

“Call it the
party-parity-paradox,” said Paleologos. “Likely voters of all parties
see a benefit to having Democrat John Kerry and Republican Scott Brown
representing Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate.”

Chick-fil-A to stop giving money to ‘anti-gay organizations,’ according to reports

After sparking anger nationwide by vocally supporting the fight
against same-sex marriage, the Chick-fil-A fast-food chain has
reportedly agreed to halt giving money to groups that seek to ban the
practice.

The chain’s president and son of its founder, Dan Cathy,
sparked the furor in July, when he gave an interview to a Christian
radio program in which he said “I think we are inviting God’s judgment
on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better
than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'” He later said, “We want to
do anything we possibly can to strengthen families.”

Around 30,000 Libyans participated in an unprecedented protest
against militias in Benghazi on Friday, according to the Associated
Press.

The rally comes after last week’s attack on the US
consulate in Benghazi left the US ambassador and three other Americans
dead. At least one militia is suspected of taking part in the attack,
which has caused Libyans to speak out against the armed factions in
Libya.

Bloomberg noted that the country’s stability is threatened by
the powerful militias, which the country’s previous government under the
National Transitional Council was unable to disarm. The recently
elected General National Congress has not had an easier time with them.

Obama Leads Romney Among NASCAR Fans: Poll

Mitt
Romney’s recent slide in several polls, including those in the
battleground states of Ohio, Virginia and Florida, is troubling enough
for the GOP. But, now the Republican nominee appears to be trailing
President Barack Obama among a traditionally conservative constituency:
NASCAR fans.

Obama leads Romney 49 to 42 percent among NASCAR enthusiasts, according to a new Zogby poll by JZ Analytics.

As
the liberal blog PoliticusUSA.com pointed out, Romney was booed at the
Daytona 500 in February during a campaign trip ahead of Super Tuesday.

Obama the capitalism-hating, liberty-hating, America-hating Marxist must be destroyed!!

Aug 20, 2012
| Jim Robinson

Posted on Monday, August 20, 2012 8:14:29 AM by Jim Robinson

Obama the capitalism-hating, liberty-hating, America-hating,
godless Marxist/communist must be completely destroyed politically!! To
allow him another term in the presidency would be to allow the total
destruction of America.

As much as I detest what the Republican
party has become, there is no other party on this earth that can come
anywhere close to accomplishing what must be accomplished to keep
America from spiraling down a Marxist/communist toilet.

Obama and
his Marxist government must not only be defeated, they must be crushed
and totally destroyed!! We must pray that God Almighty Himself moves
Heaven and Earth to rid our government of this unholy, filthy, communist
scum that has infested the democrat party, our government and our
society!! And we know that God will not do that. He leaves these earthly
tasks to us. It’s OUR country and if we wish to keep it, we must move
the mountains ourselves and do whatever it takes with whomever we have
to get the job done!!

America will NOT go down without a fight!!
Free Republic will not standby and do nothing while Obama destroys
everything we hold dear!!

Damn Romney and his RINO history! Damn
the GOPe for making this fight twice as hard as it should be! ANY
Republican with a halfway decent record would crush Obama like the
vermin he is. Well by God, if it has to be Romney, that SOB better grow a
pair and he’d better get his butt in gear and fight like there’s no
tomorrow, because there’s not!! This is do or die time!! And Rove had
better turn out to be at least half as smart as he thinks he is. He
engineered it. Now by golly, make it HAPPEN!! And our friends Hannity,
Coulter, Rush, Levin, et al, had better start cranking it up another
notch. The tea party is ready to rumble. The tea party sweeps of 2010
was just a warm-up for the tea party flood of 2012 that’s going to wash
America clean of godless communist/unionist scum from sea to shining
sea.

We are going to send that paper hanging SOB packing and then
we’re going to rip out all his Marxist B/S by the roots and fumigate
the ground so it can never grow again!!

All Republicans,
independents, grassroots conservatives, tea party members, moderates,
Reagan democrats, Christians, Jews, life, family, liberty,
decency-loving patriots of any stripe must work like the blazes for the
next couple of months and then turnout on election day and drag their
friends, relatives and co-workers to the polls to vote that communist
bastard and as many godless, liberty-hating, capitalism-hating,
God-hating, liberal progressive, corrupt Marxist communists bastards the
hell OUT as is humanly possible!!

We’ll deal with Romney and the RINOS later.

Let
the wailing and weeping commence. I’ve spent the last sleepless night
over this miserable situation that I’m going to spend. I love America,
Life and Liberty too much to let it fail.

Praying with all my might that this is in accordance to God’s will and plan. God works in mysterious ways.

May God bless and save America.

All Glory be to God.

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.

Make it happen.

And Republicans listen up. When we elect you, we don’t want any
pussyfooting around. No backsliding. No deals. No compromises. We’re
sending you up there to do a job. And it’s not to maintain the status
quo. It’s cut, baby, cut!! We must tame the beast and restore our
Liberty!! And our jobs!!

CUT THE SPENDING ALREADY!! CUT THE GOVERNMENT ALREADY!! RESTORE LIBERTY!!

May I suggest that either on election day or the day after (especially if we see reelection of Obama and enough dems to Congress to break the gridlock), to run the (in)famous picture of Truman holding up the newspaper headlined “DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN” such as http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_0YZjvlQulOU/TNBXVs1G_MI/AAAAAAAAA_Y/m8uKo7C0Pgc/s400/E868A_dewey_defeats_truman.jpg
So much toxic sludge. So little time. Having worked with Superfund Sites, once the waste reaches the groundwater, it takes decades to clean it up (and “clean it up” doesn’t mean pristine, it just means getting the pollutants down to given levels).
I’m not sure if my favorite in the above is how the once-darling Cain is now counted so poorly as if he were a democrat (and for that matter, the string of repub likelies who went through a couple of weeks of being the darling to being replaced by another; once replaced by another, the freepers fall all over themselves to character assasinate them – wonder if it is some psychological mechanism the freepers need to justify them taking the one they extolled and throwing them under the bus). The adage holds true for the Repubs – They eat their wounded.
But I guess my favorite appearing in a couple of your stories above is how a little knowledge (of statistics) is a dangerous thing. Freeper posting essentially that you can make statistics mean anything is absolutely right (but for the wrong reason – statistics that support me are good, that don’t support me are bad). But then they go off on some poll that says Obama is ahead with NASCAR fans (which from the get-go sounds like some sloppy poll that the results don’t mean anything but some local news station decided would be a fun question to ask (or for that matter, CNN always has some sort of quaint poll on their home page and my local TV does likewise and often with the same question that CNN asks. A recent example that pops to mind is Have you gotten your flu shot? Yes, No, Not yet but will. Oddly enough, they don’t block multiple entries.)

Jim Rob better hope so, he’s probably got another fundraiser coming up soon.

  5. montag says:

They still remind me of Algerian fundamentalists…

  6. thebewilderness says:

The Freepers have a lot in common with “family annihilators” I think.

  7. MarcD says:

If Obama wins, does that mean JimRobs god has forsaken him? And does it finally lay to rest the idea that super conservative wing nuts are representative of America? Probably not, but a guy can dream…

  8. Kibitzer 2006 says:

Sorry I’m late. I was following Apple Maps.
Boy, we sure are lucky Cain dropped out. As he told us himself ten days ago, he’d be winning now if he’d only stayed in:

“Stupid people are ruining America, and we’ve got to take it back,” he said.
Cain ended his political campaign amid allegations of multiple affairs and sexual harassment. But he said he would have a “substantial lead” over Obama if he had won the GOP nomination.
“The reason is quite simple: I have some depth to my ideas,” he said.

Oh, I’d say about 999 fathoms deep.

[Amazing, apocalyptic Jim Robinson rant omitted]

Does that mean that South Freepistan will just sink 999 fathoms into the cesspool after Obama’s re-election?
In other news, file this under Uh-Oh:Romney would not revoke Obama’s illegal immigrant DREAM Act [The Daily Caller ^ | 10/02/2012 | Neil Munro]. Between that and Wednesday’s debate, things should get interesting. I’d better check all the seals again.
Oh, and the Freepathon is back. It’s scheduled to go until a few days before Elizabeth Warren and Tammy Baldwin show up in the senate, but if it’s not done by 11/6/12 I’m betting it goes right through Obama’s next inauguration.
