chamber on Tuesday in rouge-red running shoes, and came off it early
Wednesday morning as the Democratic Party’s newest star.
During 13 hours in between, the little-known legislator from Fort
Worth delivered a filibuster that electrified social media and stopped
passage of one of the nation’s toughest set of abortion restrictions in
the waning hours of a special session.

She broke the senate rules and had a bunch of people in the gallery
that caused the vote to be late. Typical dim behavior that prevented the
democratic process to be completed. Shout at the top of your lungs to

No, that is incorrect, 72% in her district speak only English, that’s higher than the state as a whole, which is 65%.
In her district 28% speak other than English at home (ie. Spanish
at home), of those, 20% speak English well, and 8% speak bad or no
English.
So, basically her district is less hispanic than Texas as a whole,
which makes sense, if her district was heavily hispanic, I don’t think
she would have done what she did.Hispanics are not very big supporters
of abortion.

I don’t even know how many of them were passionately against the bill, but the rules that the speaker used to shut her down were clearly BS, and then holding the vote after midnight was the final straw. The Texas Leg is controlled by cheaters, bullies, and assholes, and that’s what people saw in action.
