Swift Boat II

Oh honest to fucking god, this again:

So, with assistance from Capitol Media Partners, the Times spoke to two of Bergdahl's former platoon-mates, Joshua Cornelison and Cody Full. Both men said that they didn't want to talk about "politics." They also agreed that they wanted Bergdahl to be court-martialed. And, as others have, they specifically named soldiers who they said died while looking for Bergdahl. Overall, Bergdahl's critics have attributed about eight fatalities to operations directly related to him but, the Times notes, "Pentagon officials say those charges are unsubstantiated and are not supported by a review of a database of casualties in the Afghan war."

I cannot imagine that Republican strategists would be wrong about ANYTHING, or overly hasty to jump on an opportunity to undermine a Democratic president, at all.

  1. The situation has so many things that I hate!
You can invent a lie in a matter of seconds. And if in political line with Faux News watch the lie be disseminated on “professional” news outlets and equally rabid trolls. OTOH – to check your facts take time. But in the social media, being instantaneous gets the story out and cements it in peoples’ minds. Coming back a day or two later is just stale.
Also, do the people using this for criticism not realize that the Taliban released Berghdal (?sp?) to the US Military? Do they think the military isn’t talking to him asking both for anything he might have picked up as a prisoner that could be useful as well as asking him about his disappearance ?
And if the circumstances of his disappearance warrant it, do they think the military doesn’t have a system for dealing with folks who go AWOL ?
In this case, the story disseminated by trolls is stating to crumble a little: http://freakoutnation.com/2014/06/04/report-the-deaths-of-8-soldiers-attributed-to-pow-bergdahl-is-false/?fb_action_ids=10152284200754934&fb_action_types=og.likes
