On Thursday, Ioffe answered a phone call from an anonymous caller who played a Hitler speech. She received another call from “Overnight Caskets”. On Twitter, users posted photos of her face superimposed on a mug shot from Auschwitz. The Daily Stormer, a white supremacist site, attacked Ioffe in a blogpost titled: “Empress Melania Attacked by Filthy Russian Kike Julia Ioffe in GQ!”

The harassment from Trump supporters is not directly linked to the candidate. Yet he has fomented a culture of violence at his rallies, encouraging supporters to retaliate against protesters. He once offered to pay the legal fees for a man who sucker punched a protester at his rally. He also failed to immediately disavow former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, who said he supports Trump’s candidacy. His campaign has been contacted for comment.
Not directly linked? Like okay, the call isn’t coming from inside the house, but certainly he’s paying the phone bills. What would “directly linked” even look like here? What would it mean? Donald Trump writes a letter to his supporters saying, “Please call this woman and say vile things to her?” Does he even have to do that at this point?
The Washington Post described the threats Ioffe was receiving as evidence of “The Trump Era,” which NO. NO. NO. There is no “Trump Era” which is just happening right now, like a calendar page got turned and we are now in the Paleo-Republican period. There is a candidate for office inciting violence on purpose. Calling threats of violence a sign of “the Trump Era” makes it sound like this is the weather, and not the deliberate actions of some meatsticks who are taking their cues from their leader.
You can actually hear the creaking right now as everybody strains to pretend this is all normal. It’s not normal. It’s profoundly fucked up, and the longer our institutional media choose to use bloodless language to describe bloody things, the more fucked up it all gets.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Trump, if elected, will manage to turn these United States of America into the United “Hates” of America. He does something to people that just brings out the worst in humanity.
I read that article on Melania Trump. It was non-offensive and appeared to be extremely factual..so why is the writer of the article being attacked and harrassed? Mrs. Trump is in the public eye. It is obvious from her past instagram posts and her QVC experiences that she rather enjoys this lifestyle. If is is so private then she should not have agreed to be interviewed or allowed the magazine to write an article about her. But, as a now possible First Lady (God forbid) her life is an open book.
I’m sure she is a hands-on mom and her family values are fine.
But why doesn’t she say anything against the vulgar displays and verbal attacks of both her husband AND the Trumpets (my word for Trump supporters).
Trump is full of hypocritical opinions. He wants to stop immigration yet two of his three wives are immigrants. He’s constantly bringing up Bill Clinton’s ..um..philandering ways and yet, Trump couldn’t keep his dick in his pants while married to Ivana or Maples.
Trump is that “do as I say–or else” schoolyard bully. He is completely unlikeable.
And he scares me. He scares me because he is charismatic. Just as Hitler was charismatic. Trumps followers are the neo-Nazi’s of our present time and we need to be careful.
I personally could give two shits what kind of First Lady Melania Trump would be because I”m hoping it never comes to that.
And I hope that this presidential campaign is NOT based on mud-slinging but is based on platforms that will help us as a country. I’m hoping people vote for Hillary (or, should Bernie get the nomination……..)!
