Well, now wasn’t last week fun?
I’m not going to post any of the endless stream of Revolutionary War Airport stories and memes, since you’ve probably seen all of them more than once. (just in case you haven’t…)
Instead, let’s see what the Freepers thought of it – when they finally acknowledged its existence, that is. It took a day or so.
Trump blames ‘airports’ gaffe on teleprompter
BBC News ^ | 5th July 2019 | BBC NewsPosted on 7/5/2019, 11:51:58 AM by Ennis85
US President Donald Trump has blamed a teleprompter going “kaput” for a glaring anachronism in his Fourth of July speech.
He told crowds on Independence Day the Continental Army “took over the airports” from the British during the American Revolutionary War in 1775.
Explaining away the slip-up on Friday, Mr Trump also said it was hard to read the teleprompter in the rain.
He hosted a military parade at the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday.
During his “Salute to America” speech, he was talking about the year 1775 when he said: “Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do.”
Critics pointed out the revolutionaries could not have seized airports more than a century before the first powered flight – credited to the Wright brothers in 1903 – took off.
Outside the White House on Friday, Mr Trump said: “I guess the rain knocked out the teleprompter.
“I knew the speech very well so I was able to do it without a teleprompter but the teleprompter did go out and it was actually hard to look at anyway because there was rain all over it.”
The president spoke to reporters as he departed with First Lady Melania Trump for the weekend to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Mr Trump said the military parade he hosted on Thursday was a “fantastic night” and forecast a rise in US military recruitment.
Before winning the White House, Mr Trump used to mock ex-President Barack Obama for relying on an autocue.
Twitter users were quick to poke fun at Mr Trump for the error, with many using the hashtag #RevolutionaryWarAirports.

We probably would have caught that, but there are times when you read and aren’t totally tuned in to what you are reading. He may have been thinking a bit too much about events coming up.
It was a great speech. The guy is a human dynamo. Mistakes will happen, and some will look glaring. It comes with the territory.

The President rewrote a little bit of history – so what?
The Left rewrites history all the time – it’s about time we had a leader who fights fire with fire. Besides, President Trump always turns out to be right.
Oh boy are they going to have egg on their faces when it turns out there WERE airports back then!!

I guess I was confused about what this was. I thought it was going to be a parade with the equipment rolling by and so forth. According to sources on the internet, the attendees could not get near the tanks. Many people complained they never saw a tank.
Doesn’t make sense.

Tanks arrive in DC as Trump confirms July Fourth celebration will feature military display
FoxNews ^ | July 2, 2019
Posted on 7/2/2019, 9:55:09 AM by SMGFanPresident Trump’s dream of a celebration showing off America’s military capabilities will become a reality on Thursday, as the president confirmed tanks will play a role in Washington, D.C.’s Fourth of July festivities — and the vehicles were seen being hauled in on a freight train. An Associated Press photographer spotted the two M1A1 Abrams tanks, along with four other military vehicles, in a railyard at the southeastern edge of Washington. A military official earlier told the AP that the tanks were transported north from Fort Stewart in Georgia.
This comes after the president said Monday: “We’re going to have some tanks stationed outside.”
The vehicles include M1A1 Abrams tanks, the type currently used by American armed forces, as well as Sherman tanks, the kind commonly used during World War II, according to the president. Having tanks rolling down the streets of D.C. had raised concerns due to their weight, with the Abrams tanks weighing upwards of 60 tons each. Trump acknowledged these concerns Monday, without offering many details.
“You’ve got to be pretty careful with the tanks because the roads have a tendency not to like to carry heavy tanks,” Trump said Monday. “So we have to put them in certain areas, but we have the brand new Sherman tanks and we have the brand new Abrams tanks.”

“Sherman tanks are an icon. an example of Americas greatness.”
Not really. A single 67-ton Tiger II could hold up a dozen Sherman tanks, and often did.

Getting the tanks there under this pretext is great. A full-on military coup by Trump-supporting US Army generals, focused on removing the hated Congress, the next day, on the 5th of July would be welcome by many Americans.

Turn the tanks loose on the CIA, FBI and NSA.

Texas May Cost Trump 2020 (Texas turning purple?) The Hill ^ | July 4, 2019 | Kristin Tate, opinion contributor Posted on 7/4/2019, 10:40:33 PM by nwrep
Texas demographics today are strikingly similar to those of California in 1990, before Democrats began their seven to nothing streak of Golden State victories in presidential races. Like California in 1990, the Texas population currently hovers around 29 million and is changing rapidly in light of heavy immigration from Mexico. The second generation children of Mexican immigrants have played a major role in keeping California out of Republican reach. This same transformation is taking root in Texas.
Young Texas voters overwhelmingly turned out for Beto O’Rourke over incumbent Ted Cruz in the Senate race last year. O’Rourke beat Cruz with 18 year olds to 24 year olds by a margin of 68 percent to 32 percent and with 25 year olds to 29 year olds by a margin of 73 percent to 26 percent. O’Rourke also outperformed the traditional edge Democrats already have among Texas Latino voters by a wide margin of 64 percent to 35 percent.
With these second generation Mexican Americans strongly supporting Democrats at the polls, Texas changing to a purple state could not happen at a more inconvenient time for Trump. His margin in the state in 2016 was the smallest for a Republican nominee since the poor showing of Bob Dole in Texas in 1996. Considering the immense and enduring new wave of left leaning voters that O’Rourke attracted, there is a real chance that Texas will be close enough in 2020 that Republicans cannot take it for granted.
Republicans are already walking a tightrope between the 2018 midterm results and changing demographic realities. In many ways, the resources used to keep Texas red next year are balanced by the fates in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Several campaign stops or a late ad buy could mean the difference in the race. Trump could see his electoral chances go to hell, if Democrats spend more time and money in Texas

But at the same time, it is an undeniable fact that Texas is changing, and not for the better. And just like California, when and if it turns Blue, decent people there are going to act like they didn’t see it coming. Come on guys, kick the cow $hit off your boots and take a look around. What’s happening in Texas doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see it.
To: nwrep
To: nwrepI keep trying to tell Freepers about the problem here in Texas but they seem hell bent on not listening. Will the Dems win Texas in 2020? Nope. But it’s just a matter of time before Texas is purple then blue. I don’t care that Austin is not Texas or whatever else excuses people come up with. Here is the bottom line: Only 27.7% of the kids in Texas public schools are white and that is a verifiable fact. That number is decreasing every year. It is also a fact more and more liberals are moving into the state from other states. The Dems won’t need voter fraud to flip Texas. It will be done because of the illegal immigration policies brought to you by the democrats AND the republicans and their Chamber of Commerce overlords. They let it happen and we reached the point of no return in Texas. They will all reach voting age in the next 5-15 years.

REAL Freeper Texicans who don’t want to see Texas go blue are invited to do the manly thing and suck on a bullet.
The sooner, the better.
