Last night, Lawrence O’Donnell opened his show with a monologue about the real life consequences of the Dobbs case. He damned George W Bush and Donald Trump for the Supreme Court selections. Lawrence believes they have blood on their hands. So do I.
Lawrence focused on the heartbreaking piece in ProPublica about a Georgia woman, Amber Nicole Thurman, who died because she couldn’t get a D&C. The Georgia lege has banned the procedure. It has nothing to do with abortion, but they acted as if it did. Add Gov. Brian Kemp to Lawrence’s shit list. Mine too.
As he spoke about the needless death of Amber Nicole Thurman, Lawrence mentioned her 6-year-old son who will grow up without his mother. Lawrence got choked up when he contemplated losing his own mother at that age. Who wouldn’t?
Every parent/spouse/sibling/child of a woman that dies from the abortion bans gets to shoot to death one anti-choice official, because they effectively put a gun to that woman’s head and pulled the trigger, but are avoiding any legal accountability.
The Southern Honor Culture should be all over this.
Sorry to break it to you, Snarki, but the neoconfederates are cheering on the death of her and other women like her because they believe if a woman dies from a surgical or chemical abortion, she deserves it. The more of these deaths occur, the more they feel vindicated. I would have thought it would go the other way until I remembered they are living in an alternate reality.
