Help

Our foray into Beatles movie theme songs continues this week with Help. It’s more of a Lennon song but we’ll go with the official listing. John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote Help in 1965 for the movie of that name.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We begin with the Fab Four:

Let’s go deep with our first cover:

Carpenters make their FCH debut with their splendid version of the Lennon-McCartney classic:

Ready for a visit to Dollywood?

Another day, another FCH debut. Give it up for the Gallagher brothers.

What would the Friday Cocktail Hour be without instrumental versions of the week’s tune? This time, Count Basie & His Orchestra followed by a solo piano rendition by the great Rick Wakeman.

Have I told you lately how much I love Bill Basie and Rick Wakeman? I have a thing for pianists.

That’s all for this week. We’re in for some nasty weather in New Orleans tomorrow. Let’s drink to it being better than the forecast. It’s what Brian, Keith, Bill, Charlie, and Mick want. Never argue with them.
