War Of The Worst

Ketamine Kid Elon Musk and Ari Melber’s Dumbest Guest Peter Navarro are having a family fight, that is, if a family fight includes one of the family members attacking another family member on their own social media platform.

Given Everything That Is Happening, you might not have heard about this little dustup, but apparently Elon was very angry at Peter recently. When you are the richest man in the world with your own platform to say whatever you want, of course you use it to trash someone who has angered you. Why wouldn’t you? And apologies for Elon’s slur here.

Despite this, Professional Lying Liar Karoline Leavitt did the Trump White House thing where she answers in the absolute worst way possible, writing it off as just Navarro and Musk being a couple of sillies.

Why you should care is a legitimate question. However, this spat between two wealthy, powerful morons has deeper reasons, and that’s why it’s important.

This is all about the Trump tariffs. It highlights deep divisions between Trump camps over U.S. trade policy and personal animosities.

The conflict actually began in 2022 when Navarro questioned Musk’s loyalty, suggesting he was “bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party” due to Tesla’s manufacturing operations in China. It got going this week when Navarro criticized Musk on television, labeling him merely a “car assembler” and accusing Tesla of relying heavily on foreign components.

Musk responded sharply on his little hellsite, calling Navarro “dumber than bricks” and “truly a moron.” He defended Tesla by stating it produces the “most American-made cars,” emphasizing the company’s significant domestic manufacturing footprint.

The dispute occurred amid broader tensions over the Trump administration’s proposed reciprocal tariff policy, which faced swift backlash from business leaders, including Musk. The policy’s announcement led to a significant stock market decline, erasing $6.5 trillion in value over two days. Musk advocated for a “zero tariff situation” with Europe, arguing that predictable tariffs are essential to avoid supply chain disruptions in global manufacturing.

Elon seemed to have won, because Trump backed off on some of the tariffs, but not entirely. Despite the heated exchange, Navarro later downplayed the incident, stating in a CNN interview, “Elon and I are fine,” suggesting no lingering issues between them. Which was about as convincing as anything that comes out of this administration.

This episode is like a very stupid version of the debate in U.S. economic policy circles, particularly regarding protectionism versus free trade. But it’s also a potential fissure within the White House.

I have a theory that eventually Trump might take it personally, that Elon’s harsh digs at Navarro might eventually make Trump believe that he is being directly attacked for appointing Navarro. If that is the case, it’s hard to imagine what might happen. Trump can’t really toss Elon aside like Rudy Giuliani, because the only other person as vindictive as Trump is Elon. It could be a lot of chaos in the White House, which would be a good thing, as any distraction from the awful things they are trying to do would be welcome.

So…let them fight.

The last word goes to Thompson Square.
