There’s a surprisingly interesting race for one of three seats on the Texas Railroad Commission. It’s an archaic name for a body that regulates the oil and gas industry. In the past, most seats have been filled by technocrats with industry backgrounds. That’s not the case in 2026. The Republican nominee, Bo French, is a culture warrior and internet troll with no relevant experience. And that is why Bo French is malaka of the week.

Bo French first entered my radar screen with this post:

Looks like happy UT students celebrating the Longhorns victory over Ohio State to me. To Bo the Bigot, it’s the sign of an alien infestation guaranteed to suck the life out of the American dream. Bo obviously never got the memo about South Asians being today’s model minority. It’s just one of many boo boos for Bo the Bigot.

French’s post-game bigotry was too much for Karl Rove, of all people:

“How did the son of a bitch decide that they were foreigners?” Rove said. “I teach at UT. It’s an honor to do so … And (French’s) mind is so capable and beyond the normal understanding of things that he can just look at a photograph and know who’s a foreigner or not? Those were Texans by God.”

The man whose president called him Turd Blossom prefers more subtle forms of bigotry such as dog whistles. Team Bush was strong on dog whistling Blacks and but they got the memo about Asian Pacific folks. Never mess with someone who might be your doctor someday.

Both Rove and lame duck Texas Senator John Cornyn have said they’re NOT voting for French. Rove has gone so far as to endorse French’s opponent St. Rep. Jon Rosenthal who’s an actual oil and gas industry guy. Rove and Cornyn are outliers as most senior Texas GOPers are supporting the racist. It’s disgusting, one could even call it a Bo no no.

In addition to his blatant Islamophobia and xenophobia, Bo the Bigot is nostalgic for South Africa’s little Apartheid sister, Rhodesia, which is now Zimbabwe. Who expected Rhodesian nostalgia would become an issue in a Texas race? I halfway expect Malaka Bo to trot out the specter of the late Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe to scare Texans shitless. It’s what culture warriors do.

Bo the Bigot has also advocated public executions even though lethal injections aren’t as entertaining as this GIF from the Clint Eastwood Western, Hang ‘Em High:

By the time he announced his Railroad Commission bid in November, he had questioned whether Democrats were “retarded,” or “gay”; polled his social media followers about whether Muslims or Jews posed “a bigger threat to America?”; urged the federal government to “denaturalize and deport” a Democratic state lawmaker who was born in Pakistan and is a naturalized U.S. citizen; and contemplated a “deep dive” into Texas Democratic House leader Rep. Gene Wu’s family, writing in a social media post “the (Chinese Communist Party) connection is strong I bet.” He also called for Wu’s deportation.

 

Three weeks after forcing a runoff, French encouraged Republicans to openly embrace “Islamaphobia” and called for the deportation of 100 million people. By high-end estimates, there are some 14 million undocumented people in the country.

 

After winning the primary, this summer, he said, “it’s time to go round up all the Chinese and send them packing!” and that he “won’t rest until every muslim is gone.”

Round up the Chinese? Imagine the American restaurant scene without Chinese eateries. Does Bo know that most Chinese Americans are pro-Taiwanese and anti-Communist? Of course not, his brain is a fact free zone.

I wish I could say that Bo French is an outlier in the Texas Republican party but it’s the party of Greg Abbot and Ken Paxton who traffic in their share of bigotry. French isn’t as crooked as Paxton but he’s more bigoted than that benighted bozo.

Let’s ponder the featured image. Give a Texan a Stetson and they’re convinced they’re a cowboy defending the Alamo or some such shit. Bo French is a wealthy investor who has never scraped cow shit off his boots. He’s a Christian nationalist who should be given the boot by Texas votes. As the old Texas saying goes, this week’s “honoree” is all hat and no cattle. And that is why Bo French is malaka of the week.

Repeat after me: Bo French is too bigoted for Karl Rove.
