Tomorrow is No Kings Day. This time, it’s focused on getting out the vote. A noble cause for these ignoble times. Participate however you can be it in person or in spirit. Spirited opposition is as democratic as it gets.
This week’s song is credited to Graham Nash and his Hollies band mates, Alan Clarke and Tony Hicks. BUT it’s Graham’s jam. The other Hollies got their jollies by mocking the song as too experimental or some such shit. Their reaction was one reason why Nash quit the band and moved to Los Angeles. The rest is history.
Shorter Adrastos: I’m giving Graham Nash sole songwriting credit.
King Midas In Reverse seems ripped out of the headlines but it was written and recorded in 1967. Our wannabe king turns everything to shit. It’s past time for Congress to reassert its status as a co-equal branch and reign the stupid motherfucker in.
Let’s get to the music. We begin with The Hollies:

The Posies recorded a power pop version of the Nash classic for the 1995 Hollies tribute album, Sing Hollies In Reverse:
What would the Friday Cocktail Hour be without an instrumental version of the week’s tune? This time, an ambient version from Bing Satellites & Daniel Land.
That’s it for this week. I propose a toast to everyone who’s working hard to take Mad King Donald down a peg or three. It’s what our favorite hanger-on would want. Never argue with Countdown Harold Lloyd.
