Will Bush Sign Off?

Today the Army Corps of Engineers says MRGO should go but Bush would need to sign off on it. From WWL

The Mississippi
River Gulf Outlet, blamed by many in St. Bernard Parish and New Orleans
East for the flooding that took place there post-Katrina, should be
closed, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Saturday. The Corps said
it would essentially close the MRGO down to all navigation and lessen
the threat of a storm surge by building a large, earthen dam along the
MRGO, just south of Hopedale.

The Corps said if the president signed off on the project, it would
take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to start closing the MRGO.This needs to happen. The sooner the better. I’ve not been able to find anything on Bush’s position regarding MRGO so who knows.

However, the
recommendation must first be signed off on by President George W. Bush,
and there’s no time frame on when that could happen.

This needs to happen, the sooner the better but I’ve not been able to find anything on Bush’s position regarding MRGO so who knows.

  1. Is it going to make money for him and his partners in crime?
Is it going to make headlines that will satisfy the lizard-brains of his base?
Is it going to distract people from the myriad evidences of his incompetence and corruption?
If the answer to all three of these questions is no, then that’s your answer.
Not to mention that it would require someone’s explaining to him exactly why this is necessary, and that could take a while, time he would prefer to spend riding his bicycle.

  2. What can I say? We must wait on Bush. That’s not encouraging.
Now if New Orleans must wait until Bush understands, then it will be a very loooong wait. It may never happen.
