Gov. Perry calls FEMA to assist with wildfires

— Gov. Rick Perry is asking FEMA to issue an emergency declaration for 199 Texas counties dealing with wildfire threats.
FEMA declaration would provide federal assets and firefighting
resources to assist in battling the blazes that have burned more than
100,000 acres since Thursday.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency approved requests from the
Texas Governor’s Office about 1 a.m. Friday, making the North Texas
counties eligible for fire management assistance grants for expenses
related to the fires.
