My pal Liprap posted one of those “list your favorite songs from a certain year” things on Facebook. She “assigned” me 1964, which is how I became reacquainted with Howlin’ Wolf’s classic blooze tune, Killing Floor. I loves me some Howlin’ Wolf, y’all. In the course of checking stuff out online, I stumbled into a swell piece by Debra Devi about the story behind the song according to guitarist Hubert Sumlin who is picture above with Chester Arthur Burnett aka Howlin’ Wolf.
We begin with the man himself playing a killer Killing Floor live:
Speaking of da man, here’s Jimi Hendrix rocking the Monterey Pop Festival:
Finally, here’s an audio only version from the short lived 60’s super group, The Electric Flag:
A small nit, but it’s Hubert Sumlin, not Herbert.
Thanks. Guess I don’t know how to read. Will change it.
