I have to admit – I’m a 50s horror movie buff. I used to sneak out of bed at midnight, tune in to the distant (distant from Waco, anyway) DFW channel 11, adjust the rabbit ears, and sit in front of the TV for movies like “The Giant Claw” and “The Crawling Eye”.
Another fave was “The Beginning Of The End”, which featured giant grasshoppers (harvested, coincidentally, from the farmland around my Dad’s farm) attacking Chicago as a finale’.
Nope. Not even one giant grasshopper.

So I have been duped by Conservatives and Q Followers alike. Trump was supposed to be soooooo close to dropping info to prove Biden stole the election. What happened? Biden is now our president. Nothing on Horowitz. Nothing on Durham. Nothing on Declass. Nothing on stolen elections. Trump packed it up, split town and left us with Biden. Brilliant! It feels like I’ve been punched in the gut. I’m sure there are others out there that feel the same way. I listened, and bought into, the BS about saving the world… Yadda Yadda Yadda. I am done. I believed the hype and have nobody to blame but myself. That is all. It was fun while it lasted.

Still, there are many Americans who are absolutely revolted by Mr. Trump’s conduct, including but not limited to while in office. Freepers, and especially Q fans, may not see it, but it is true just the same.
In 2020 he threaded the electoral-college needle, but in 2020 it just wasn’t there.
Many Americans who are not die-hard Trump fanatics were repulsed by what happened on January 6. So the left will hang this around the neck of conservatism for as long as they can get away with it.
And speaking of the Trump! cult, to place any stock whatsoever in what some anonymous Internet dweeb named Q! says is just not rational. I have been here long enough to remember 1998, the Clinton impeachment year, when a Freeper named quidam (whose account is still active, BTW), got Freepers all hot and bothered by sending out similarly cryptic messages indicating Bill Clinton was going to be removed from office.
Who was responsible for the Q lunacy? Perhaps we will never know. But it is incumbent on all conservatives to always ask, even if the future of someone they (unreasonably, IMHO) adore is at stake, to ask whether, given thousands of years of human history, a claim about what is going to happen is reasonable.
Persuading people that the conservative POV is the correct one is essential. Right now, given the way the country is (and it is that way, like it or not) this is hard work. This all the more true if so many Americans see the avatar of conservatism, Donald J. Trump, as a fundamentally repugnant man. A certain sort of Freeper may be incapable of processing this. But the country is what it is. And whining for two months before encouraging people to go down to the Capitol and do what is necessary (and breaking one’s promise to march down with them, which Trump! in his typically cowardly way did in his address on Jan. 6) is not going to persuade the country as it is that the claims of Donald J. Trump, despite the recorded vote totals and refusal of over 50 courts nationwide to acknowledge that that any objection to this is not meritless, that the election was “stolen” deserve any respect. Americans judge the credibility of claims like this by what the courts say, and on that score Mr, Trump’s batting average is .000. The certainty that people have that Trump! is right because of videos they saw on the internet and the testimony of some people who have some knowledge of statistics (and Sydney Powell and other crackpots) is just not enough.
Conservatives from now on need to do better than this. This is the country we live in, deal with it..

Poking around on Facebook last night, I saw a page for a guy who was a year ahead of me in high school decades ago. I haven’t had any contact with him for all that time. Hoo boy! “Marinated in the deepest Q nonsense” doesn’t begin to describe his feed. Reading through his posts for the last three weeks is like a chronology of the craziness. He got one or two timid pushback posts from people who know him, and while he was generally respectful (“Yeah, maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am”) in replying, he stuck by his posts even when they were proven 100% wrong. Next big date for these kooks appears to be March 8, though it’s unclear just what’s supposed to happen then.
March 4th is the original pre-FDR inauguration date. They’ve convinced themselves this is the “real” date that Trump will be sworn in on.
“Tune in tomorrow morning for the rest of the sweet sweet tears.” I don’t think I can handle much more.
We’re gonna need SCUBA gear, I’m hoping.
