Dianne Feinstein, R.I.P.

Dianne Feinstein as we should remember her.

Senator Dianne Feinstein has died after a long illness at the age of 90. I’m not going to rehash all the ugly, ageist, and sexist abuse she took for not retiring from the Senate. I stand by what I wrote in a post from earlier this year, Dianne Feinstein Fades Away.

I needed to mark this day with a self quote from that post:

For me, Dianne Feinstein will always be the woman who rose to the occasion after her colleagues George Moscone and Harvey Milk were murdered. In those days, she was a lioness. I only wish her end as a national figure was as glorious as the beginning.”

The last word goes to another great American who died this year, Tony Bennett.

The Friday Cocktail Hour will return next week.
