(I Know) I’m Losing You

It’s time for a torch song, Motown style. I was tempted to say Temptations style but thought better of it. I try to resist temptation whenever possible.

(I Know) I’m Losing You was written in 1966 by Norman Whitfield, Edward Holland Jr, and Cornelius Grant. The lyrics are as torchy as hell but the arrangement rocks.

We begin with the OG Temptations version with lead vocals by David Ruffin:

I dig Gladys Knight even if the Pips never floated my boat. What the hell is a pip anyway?

Finally, Rod Stewart with the uncredited Faces featuring some killer drumming by Kenney Jones:

Here’s a cherry for today’s sundae, The Faces live:

That’s it for this week. I propose a toast to The Temptations and songwriter-producer Norman Whitfield. Thanks for all the great music. It’s what the cast of the OG Ocean’s 11 would want. Never argue with them.
