I Am An Animal

Former President* Pennywise’s campaign continues to be shrill, hateful, and desperate. Yes, I said desperate. I don’t care if he’s ahead in some polls, he’s desperate to win to have the power to nullify federal criminal charges. Why is he desperate? He knows he’s guilty.

Trump reached a new low last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan, hometown of moderate former Republican president Gerald Ford. These are direct quotes:

“The 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia who was barbarically murdered by an illegal alien animal. The Democrats say, ‘please don’t call them animals, they’re humans.’ I said ‘no, they’re not humans, they’re animals.'”

“This is country changing, it’s country threatening and it’s country wrecking. They have wrecked our country. But I stand before you today to declare that Joe Biden’s border bloodbath, and that’s what it is. It’s a bloodbath.

… if we don’t win in November 5th, I think our country is going to cease to exist.”

Like every other non-Native American, Donald J. Trump’s family immigrated to this country. Some did it legally, others illegally. It does not matter: They’re human beings, not animals. I say that as someone who often prefers the company of my cats to people.

Denigrating immigrants has been a part of the Indicted Impeached Insult Comedian’s campaigns since the beginning. Sometimes he distinguishes between legal and illegal and immigrants, but most of the time he does not. The only immigration Trump approves of is WHITE IMMIGRATION. I hope immigrants of color will remember that before voting for this racist criminal.

As for me, I have not forgotten where I, and my people, came from. There are far too many Americans who have. We’re all immigrants. In fact, Greeks were not considered white by many Americans when my family came to this country in the early 20th Century.

My father often described a brush he had with some Klansmen as a boy. All they did was scare him but the memory lingered on. It didn’t make him a liberal but like Ronald Reagan and John McCain, he was a genuine conservative who favored immigration and believed immigrants were human beings. It should not be necessary to say that, but it is thanks to the Kaiser of Chaos and his ilk. His ilk irks me.

How do we counter such displays of public bigotry? By standing up and proclaiming: I AM AN ANIMAL.

It’s much like the often memed and parodied scene in Kirk Douglas and Stanley Kubrick’s 1960 film Spartacus:

Kirk Douglas knew how to stand up against injustice. He helped shatter the Hollywood blacklist by giving blacklisted writer Dalton Trumbo credit for Spartacus.

We’re all Spartacus. We’re all animals.

The last word goes to Pete Townshend:

Repeat after me: I Am An Animal

  1. Not just any white immigrants – Trump only wants Northern European white immigrants. He’s a very specific racist.

  2. You’re an animal?
…and here I thought you were a fungi.

  3. Truth. We all came from somewhere else except the native people who inhabited North, Central and South America.
