It’s Black Friday. I’m skipping the Steely Dan song this year and giving you the finger; the Badfinger.
Pete Ham wrote Day After Day in 1971 for Badfinger’s Straight Up album. The song was produced by George Harrison who nearly steals the show with his slide guitar playing but in the end the melody won out.
We’ll give it to you straight up and begin with the Badfinger original:
Dreams So Real were an alternative band out of Athens, GA. They were expected to be the next big thing. They were not. But I dig their cover of the Pete Ham classic.
Midge Ure sounds like a woman’s name, but the artist is actually a bald dude. Go figure.
Next up, the artist formerly known as Rod the Mod.
The Brady Bunch? Yes, the Brady Bunch.
What would the Friday Cocktail Hour be without an instrumental version of the week’s tune? This time, the piano stylings of Floyd Cramer.
That’s it for this week. Let’s drink to a safe and peaceful holiday season. It’s what George Harrison and Pete Ham would want. Never argue with them.
