We begin with a retraction of this sentence from my open letter to Bill Cassidy:
I have never voted for you, but I think that underneath the rhetoric you are a decent human being.”
Why the retraction? Cassidy’s falling for Bobby Junior’s lies and voting to move his nomination out of committee. The reason for the vote is cowardice. Cassidy KNOWS that Bobby Junior is a dangerous crackpot, but took what he thinks is the easy way out and voted AYE.
In a move straight out of reality TV, Bobby Junior lied to Senators about his past statements on vaccines and pretty much everything else. Bill Cassidy swallowed these lies whole. I hope he chokes on them. I certainly have.
Cassidy is delusional if he thinks this vote will save his political ass. I stand by this passage in my open letter:
I know what you are thinking: If I vote NAY I am in political trouble in 2026. You already are, Senator. There are plans afoot for you to be primaried by a candidate to be named later. Gov. Jeff Landry DBA The Clownfish has never gotten over your impeachment vote in 2021 as well as your support for masks and vaccines during the pandemic. That support may have been muted, not full-throated but you swam against your party’s tide and won reelection in 2020. But that was before the vote that Trump will never forgive. and that Landry will never let you forget.
The Clownfish has been plotting your demise ever since he became Gret Stet Governor. You are one reason that Landry pushed through a law ending the open primary system for federal races. That puts you in a Republican primary against a Landry and Trump backed candidate. Your support is not deep enough to win a closed primary without the sort of moderate voters who are scarce in your party. Politically, you are doomed.”
Dr. Bill Cassidy knows that Bobby Junior is a menace.
Senator Bill Cassidy is a craven coward who sold his soul for no reason whatsoever.
The only way Cassidy will dodge a MAGA challenge in 2026 is if the Kaiser of Chaos orders The Clownfish to call off his rabid dogs. In a word: Unlikely.
I considered calling this post Bill Cassidy Can Go Fuck Himself. That’s the tone of the piece but I ended up riffing on the title of Jack Kennedy’s book, Profiles In Courage.
If there was ever a senator who was all profile and no courage, it’s Bill Cassidy.

Far more outwardly decent (not just underneath) than RFK, Jr. And none of them should be head of HHS because they have no knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid or best vaccines or how to stop opioid addiction or many other health issues, just like Bobby! Unlike Bobby, though, each of them would willingly state under oath that vaccines DO NOT cause autism! 🤬🤬
