Pour One Out For America

The US has been a fire sale for a few years now since the previous President Grievance administration. Biden did a great job in cleaning up the mess and putting things back where they belonged, and even introduced some new things to make life in America better, but the stupid whiny dumbass American voting public spent the last election season either grooving to MAGA bullshit on the various social media outlets or by swallowing copious amounts of right wing propaganda put out by fake leftists and poisoning the atmosphere around Biden and Harris and voting for or helping to elect the current horror show.

I had no faith in any of the sitting Republican senators. Lisa Murkowski could have shut it all down, but she was promised that Alaska wouldn’t be touched by any of the Medicaid cuts so she voted to let the process continue. And even after the Senate parliamentarian took that bribe out of the actual bill text, she waited until her state was the beneficiary of a new kind of set aside—the “error rate” set aside—and then screwed everyone else.

Oh to be sure she mewled about how awful the bill was and suggested that the House might be able to save the millions of sick and disabled people who rely on Medicaid, but no sentient being is counting on the wack job House to fix the myriad problems with this bill. Murkowski insulted our collective intelligence with that stupid ruse.

Rand Paul called her out and oooh boy she got mad:

Sen. Lisa Murkowski stared me down for more than 10 seconds when I asked about the criticism she was receiving about the deal struck to get her vote on the OBBB.

Back home in West Virginia we already knew our senators couldn’t wait to stab West Virginians in the back. Jim Justice has spent most of his time in the Senate tweeting about crypto, something I am sure he knows nothing about but there is nothing our doesn’tpayhisbills freshman senator loves more than money. And yes, each word links to a separate story that I wrote about what a crook that fatuous dumbass is. His coal interests got a nice present in the bill so he’s happy, 82,000 West Virginians losing their Medicaid coverage be damned.

I’m not sure if everyone knows that Shelley Moore Capito’s father, Arch Moore, was a crook who did jail time for mail fraud, tax fraud, extortion, and obstruction of justice during his time as governor. After Shelley gleefully took time off from licking President Grievance’s boots to vote for this awful bill, she announced to us that her son, Moore Capito and yes their names are fucking ridiculous, was now magically the nominee for US Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia. Moore Capito has spent his entire career in the WV legislature where he was so unremarkable and awful that he lost his gubernatorial run to the useless carpetbagger Patrick Morrisey.  But Mommy promised fealty to President Grievance and now the useless son might have a job after all.

And over in the executive branch today, the president visited Ron Desantis’ Dollar Store Gilead Gulag, along with the dog killer Kristi Noem, where they all laughed it up inside a horrifically constructed prison in the middle of the Everglades which will be a life threatening hazard to the detainees if a hurricane hits.

Trump stands in front of actual cages at “Alligator Alcatraz” and calls Biden a “son of a bitch” (Most of the people Ice is grabbing have no criminal convictions) The price tag on this is $450 million yearly to his private prison pals

We had a good run, you know. But this version of the US is over.

There will be a time to start talking about how to fix this nation, and how to rebuild it so that this bullshit doesn’t happen again, and how to make sure that vulnerable people aren’t left behind. And there’s 249 years of racism to address as well. But not today, not this week, and maybe not this month. Right now we mourn.

  1. I wonder if in all that money for immigrant detention there’s any mention of ovens?
