King Of Pain

Featured image or recruitment poster? You decide. A reminder that tomorrow is No Kings Day. I plan to hit the streets runny nose and all. These pollen allergies are a bitch, y’all. I’ll have more about No Kings Day in this week’s Saturday Odds & Sods.

I used King Of Pain in my Top Ten Songs That Should Be Played At MAGA Rallies post. It’s a perfect theme song for the man who would be king, Donald Trump.

King Of Pain was written by Gordon Sumner DBA Sting for The Police’s 1983 album Synchronicity. It doesn’t pain me to say that it was a hit.

Let’s call The Police twice:

A solo version from the songwriter:

Alanis Morissette. Say no more.

Let’s go gaga for this stinging duet featuring Stefani Germanotta and Gordon Sumner:

You weren’t a rock star in the 1980’s if Weird Al didn’t mock your music. Should we call it mock and roll? Discuss amongst yourselves.

What would the Friday Cocktail Hour be without an instrumental version of the week’s tune? This time, some long hair music by the London Symphony Orchestra.

That’s it for this week. A reminder that America is a nation founded on protest. Exercise your first amendment rights while getting some exercise tomorrow. It’s what the Adams cousins would want. Never argue with Samuel and John. They’re stand up guys.
