Every sentient being knows that MAGAts do not belong anywhere near any educational institution, whether it’s a kindergarten or a college. Well, everyone except the West Virgina Republican party.

And especially the governor of WV, Jersey Pat Morrissey, aka the Temu Trump. Pat can’t help but debase himself to get President Grievance’s attention and approval. He just took $2 million out of his contingency fund, which is really supposed to be used for emergencies like the recent toxic fire in Parkersburg, just so WV could have the same Ferris wheel as is on the Mall at the Great American Fake Fair.

So when Trump started his campaign against higher education, Pat got right in line. The state allocated $3 million for the Washington Center for Civics, Culture, and Statesmanship and the propaganda factory will open this fall. Now this is weird for a lot of reasons. One is that back in 2023 the university said it was in financial difficulty and cut its entire world languages catalog—they just fired everyone. There were other departments cut, too, with the rationale that the university had to focus on majors that would bring in students and money.

So you can guess what happened next:

Only one student has registered for courses at West Virginia University’s new Washington Center, an academic program mandated by Republican lawmakers for the campus. 

Ah yes, that citadel of intellectualism, the WV GOP:

House Majority Leader Pat McGeehan said he authored the legislation after identifying what he described as a gap in the modern education system.

“If we expect young West Virginians to preserve our, sort of, constitutional republic way of life, they need more than just scattered coursework. They need serious, sustained engagement with the principles, the institutions, and the ideals that shaped this country,” McGeehan said.

Maybe the academic in charge of the center will sound less stupid:

Since the bill became law, the center has moved forward with several steps, including the allocation of $1.5 million in state funding and the appointment of its first director, Dr. Patrick Miller.

Miller said the center’s purpose is to push universities toward what he described as truth and reality.

“It’s so important to universities to be oriented towards reality and to the truth. If they have been captured, as I think they have been, especially in the last 10 years by left-wing ideology, then it’s necessary that there be a corrective—that’s why Governor Morrisey and Charleston established the Washington Center,” Miller said.

The center plans to offer courses in three general subject areas: American ideals, Western civilization and modern controversies.

Some WVU students have raised concerns online about the focus and content of certain courses, particularly those centered on modern controversies such as “woke” and “the new right.” Miller said those concerns are misplaced.

“We’re happy to have students of all persuasions in our classroom, and we’re going to teach views from all sides of the spectrum. It only seems like we’re ideologically right-wing in an environment in which left-wing ideology has been the ocean in which everybody’s been swimming,” Miller said.

My bad. Ugh.

Now I have to be honest and say that the excuse for the low-to-no enrollment is that none of these courses are count toward any of the majors (that are still left), and that seems to have a grain of truth to it. But none of them should count, given how they are just a rehash of Prager “University” bullshit. Look at the job description to teach there:
