When I was a kid, I loved playing the board game Risk. It taught me about geography as well as tactical and strategic thinking. It didn’t make me a warmonger. It’s unclear if the Kaiser of Chaos played Risk but he acts as if he did. Did it help form his risky worldview?
I’ll let my countryman Tom Nichols explain:
When Donald Trump looks at a map, he doesn’t see nations. He sees property. All of those pretty colors do not represent actual places filled with human beings who have distinct cultures, languages, and histories; the planet, to Trump, is a big board game, like Risk or Monopoly. Greenland isn’t a real location—it’s a valuable chunk of territory nestled between Boardwalk and Park Place. The Strait of Hormuz isn’t an international waterway—it’s a thing to control somewhere between Kamchatka and East Africa.”
Kamchatka was a valuable piece of real estate in Risk world. It’s not in the real world but it might be in Trump world. Who thought anyone would covet Greenland so much? A deal has been closed to shut Trump up about Greenland. Make that try to shut him up. His loose lips continue to sink ships…
The Insult Comedian addressed the United Nations General Assembly this morning. I never watch his speeches, his vocal gymnastics are annoying, not inspiring. When he gets that whisper in his voice, it makes me wanna:
The speech itself was loaded with the sort of bluster and bullshit that comes out of his big fat bazoo on a daily basis. He threatened Iran with obliteration for the umpteenth time and lied about his accomplishments. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
It’s all a board game to Donald. For the rest of us, it’s risky business.

The last word goes to REM:

What do you get when you mix greed, narcissism, and a diseased brain? trump, of course.
