Sen. Russ Feingold has become a familiar face in the showdown pitting the White House against the Senate over renewal of the USA Patriot Act.
On Monday, the Wisconsin Democrat jump-started his day on the NBC-TV “Today” show. Later, he and two colleagues faced dozens of cameras in giving the party’s response to Bush’s news conference.
Feingold capped the media blitz for the day by appearing with an opponent on the Patriot Act issue, Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn, on “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer” on PBS.
Oh, and can we please put to death this “electability” nonsense?
Sabato cautioned that Feingold holds less sway with “Democrats who care about electability” and, furthermore, that taking on the Patriot Act “can be poisonous in red states – and Feingold has very little appeal in any red state.”
Jesus Christ in a mid-size sedan. Look. Whoever we elect is electable. Done. Finished. Last time we even have to talk about it.
