Another day, another shattered norm. A normal Department of Justice abides by its own policy of not investigating candidates within 60 days of an election. The Omar raid was executed 22 days before the election: tick tock, motherfuckers. This is NOT a normal DOJ: It’s the MAGA-Trump-Blanche DOJ. They shared “credit” with DHS after abandoning their protocol with the raid on Rep. Ilan Omar’s Washington DC house. Everything MAGA does is about performative intimidation.
The MAGA movement has targeted Omar since her election to the House in 2018. Fox has been whipping up hysteria about her immigration status ever since. They hate her because she’s Black, Muslim, and wears a hijab. Trump has been calling Somalia a “shithole country” for years. He should know from shitholes: He’s trying to turn our nation’s capital into a shithole with his fakakta ballroom and Albert Speer lite triumphal arch. What’s he celebrating? Getting away with fomenting a coup and storing classified documents in a bathroom? Those are the only Trump triumphs I can think of.
The Insult Comedian and his minions claim that Omar’s father lied on the family’s entry forms in 1995. That’s 31 years ago. I guess they’ve never heard of the statute of limitations. Why would Omar have 31-year-old documents at her DC home or her Minnesota home for that matter?

Team MAGA may have delusions of deporting a sitting member of Congress, but it’s unlikely to ever happen. That’s OK with the idiot Homeland Security secretary and the corrupt Attorney General. Their job is pandering to the whims and fever dreams of the Kaiser of Chaos, not securing convictions.

I nearly used the term dog whistle in the post title but this is undiluted racism, religious bigotry, and xenophobia; the unholy trinity of Trumpism. Trump treats DHS as his personal toy, so Markwayne Mullin should consider a new slogan for his department inspired by the toy store chain: Scare Tactics ‘R Us.
For her part, Rep. Omar is standing firm against this grotesque abuse of power:
This alleged power play is the latest example of Team MAGA’S weakness. Rep. Omar is undaunted and unbowed by this attempt to intimidate her.
