The ferret shelter for which I volunteer has a couple of events every year.This weekend’s the big one, and if you’re in the Chicago area and want to watch some furballs in action, come on out:

True story: We once entered the late Little Joe in the paper bag escape, where you put a ferret in a paper bag, fold over the top, and wait to see which one jumps out of the bag first. Ten minutes after the contest was over, still no Joey. I opened the bag up, worried, to find he’d decided a warm dark place was good enough to nap in.
