I watched and listened to Ms Maddow’s speech tonight with great interest. She is right – that is the speech Obama should have given. His idol should be Truman, not Bush, as it seems to be. I can easily see Truman making the Maddow speech, but I doubt that we will ever hear Obama come even close to it. Remember when Truman sacked Gen. MacArthur, the press was totally on MacArthur’s side, the Congress was nearly all on MacArthus’s side, the public was strongly on MacArthur’s side. But, Truman did what his duty called him to do. Of course Truman possessed something in abundance that Obama seems to totally lack.

I’m not as big of a Truman fan as some folks. Harry brought us the National Security State and the loyalty oath. He had some good moments but he was farther to the right on international affairs than people are willing to accept.

“President Maddow.” That’s my dream. Well, the one that doesn’t involve Catherine Keener in a Bo Peep outfit, anyway.

Willingness to drop a nuke? I thought the jury was still out on whether that would stop the oil flow.
