Good morning everyone – the Freeperati have been getting callouses patting thenselves on the back for their recent run of good fortune – but lately, somehow, it’s all gone terribly wrong.
Much like a child who has been enormously successful in finding where the ladder is stored, and finding just the right towel to tie around his neck for a cape, the Freepers have climbed to the top of the house, and are very pleased with how their “fly like Superman” plan has been going.
And then, in the last few weeks, they jumped, and reality / gravity took over.
Let’s suit up, open the airlock, and see what the landing looked like.
Jury Convicts Army ‘Birther’ Who Refused Deployment to Afghanistan

A military jury has convicted an Army doctor who disobeyed orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he questions President Obama’s eligibility for office.
(Excerpt)
A hearty thank you must also be bestowed upon all the conservative talking bobbleheads who refused to discuss this issue in any manner whatsoever.
Obama smiles.
Look at every political race he’s ever entered and see what happened to his opponents.
Wintertime,
Sheesh. You sound like a liberal on this thread. Those Democrats used the same nonsense in 2005 saying that President Bush presided over an illegal war due to wrong intel. We were beating the dems up for that. There were many soldiers who refused to go to war over it and when they went to jail we celebrated.
I know you are not a liberal that is for sure but you just sound like one tonight. Maybe you are tired.
Yeah, he’s like one of the suckers who listens to one of those goofballs who claims to have discovered a legal loophole that makes it possible to get out of paying taxes.
Why on God’s green earth would heever want to end a spectacle that serves as such an embarrassment to his oppositions? If anything, his people are probably poking the Birther movement with a stick every time it shows signs of going into hibernation.
“I’m hoping he gets to appeal or gets to simply choose retirement at his highest completed grade.”
I think Lakin is glad I’m a retired O-5, not an active duty O-6 on the CM.
“MAJ Dobson, the doctor who had to replace LTC Lakin on short notice, testified next. He recounted how two days after arriving in theatre, the unit suffered a mass-casualty attack, with sixteen wounded. He said that he was not, in his opinion, as well-prepared to deal with the attack as he would have been had he had longer to prepare for operations at the FOB. The defense suggested on cross that the deployment was probably a good career opportunity for the major personally.”
I’d be thinking maximum penalty right about now…and a Lt Col shouldn’t be as STUPID as Lakin.
The military, the courts, all conservative media…the list goes on and on.
… and half or more of all Free Republic users. Boy, you nailed that one.The Birther Narrative has significant collateral damage.
Will Lakin have to show his BC to get into prison?

When I got home, I noticed that the receipt showed that the cashier had only charged me for one of the sets. I did not notice if she put both under the scanner so I don’t know if it is a misread or an error on the part of the cashier.
There was a woman in front of me who caused her nearly a half hour of grief over coupons and sale prices, so she was a little distracted when she got to me. I don’t want her to lose her job, but I feel the need to call and tell them that I was not charged for all my items.
I wouldn’t because half the time I go to like Walmart they bag my purchases but fail to give me all my bags, yes and from what I hear they have it happening VERY often, and they just restock the items if the buyer doesn’t come back asking why they were a bag short.
If I was REALLY paranoid I would be thinking along the lines that the employees of these big box stores are encouraged to be less observant of if all the bags are given to the buyers.
It happens to me at least one out of ten times.
Was the cashier nice? I would only mention it if I liked the cashier. Some of those cashiers need to be fired.
In regards to my comment, yes I would be guilty but for some reason when it happens from a big box store I could care less, but at a smaller mom and pop store, NO WAY!
I have been given excess change many times, never kept it, especially from my bank, in a small town its better to have respect for those that may lose their jobs because of something like this.
When I was very young, 20 to be exact, I purchased a new coat. I handed the lady a 20 and she gave me $25 bucks back in change. I told her she had made a mistake, this set her off on a 10 minute tirade in which she said she didn’t make mistakes and for me to get out of the store and quit complaining. After trying to explain several times I finally took her advice and left with my new coat and my extra 5 bucks. Never argue with the cashier, they don’t make mistakes:).
I’d say there’s an obligation to speak up if you catch it at the store. But after you’re home and if it is entirely the store’s error, the time and expense of going back to the store and straightening it out would far outway any $20 ‘owed’—and so would not reasonably be expected.

And I contributed to this RINO’s campaign…I’m gonna get my money back from the traitorous @$$h0!e.
OK, flame away…but…
WHO THE HELL CARES? I really couldn’t care less about someones sexual orientation as long as they don’t flaunt it, and they’re willing to do what the military asks them to do.
We’re facing a trillion dollar deficit and THIS is what people are worried about?
You have no problem with people with mental disordersbeing trained to efficiently kill other humans and being given the most effective means to do so?
And everyone thought Scott Brown was such a good guy…NOT!
He is a RINO.

Dear Friend,
We felt that advertising on the Glenn Beck Program could be mis-interpreted as an endorsement of Mr. Beck’s political views. Since Omaha Steaks has no affiliation with Mr. Beck, nor do we ever endorse any political affiliations, views or beliefs, we felt it was in our best interest to discontinue these ads.
Sincerely,
This whole thing smells to high heaven…
Dear Omaha Steaks Flunky
Seems your pulling your advertising from Glen Beck’s program is a political endorsement of those who want him silenced.

I grew up in Omaha, this pansy crap makes me want to keep that a secret.
Merry Christmas, Tommy, and thanks for this weekly visit to Freeperville. I look forward to it every Monday.

These people really, really, REALLY don’t know the difference between anecdotes and data, do they?
And also? Possibly they need the 10 Commandments plastered all over the place so they can remember them, because I’m pretty sure THOU SHALT NOT STEAL is in there someplace.
A.
Jayzus god. You take back the DVD and either return it or pay for it. You don’t listen to birthers. You don’t buy meat by mail (except for a Zingerman’s Reuben Kit). You don’t advertise somewhere without assuming that people will think you like that place. This isn’t difficult, people.
But, Orly Taitz wants to make a musical of Lakin’s story, and is waiting for a call from Andrew Lloyd Webber…
In honor of the Freepers, I propose they call it, “Bats.”
Tommy—
You’ve outdone yourself. I guess you got an extra day to wade through the sludge.
I hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas (other than wading through the sludge).
But he probably did get a few bucks from his ghost-written book. Too bad he never did buy that $250,001 per year plumbing business and have to pay an extra $0.05 in taxes. (And what happened to the damned “cents” key on my typewriter?).
And so did I.
Of course, Hawaii has a new governor (Neil Abercrombie)who will probably piss the birthers off even more.
Good idea.
Yeah, not so tricksy after all, was it?
I warned you, but you told me to shut up :).
Somehow I remember the possibility of being reduced to the rank of E1 while in prison, and then being dishonorably discharged with no benefits.
In this case collateral damage is a Good Thing (TM).
Truer words were never spoke.
