In My Life

In My Life is the loveliest song the Fab Four ever recorded. It features some of John Lennon’s best and most mature lyrics. Not bad for a guy who was 25 at the time. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

In My Life appeared on the Rubber Soul album. It’s credited to Lennon and McCartney but it’s mostly Lennon. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We begin with The Beatles. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Judy Collins is one of the best interpretive singers ever. She takes ownership of In My Life for 2 minutes and 58 seconds.

We’re not quite done with Judy Collins. As you may be aware, Stephen Stills wrote Suite: Judy Blue Eyes for her. Here’s CSN’s take on this week’s song:

The Dillards put a bluegrass spin on this week’s song. Yeah, boy.

British folkie June Tabor brings her unique talents to bear on the Lennon classic.

Finally, Dwight Twilley with a more up tempo version of The Beatles classic.

What’s a Friday Cocktail Hour without instrumental versions of the week’s tune? This time, James Galway followed by Al Di Meola.

That’s it for this week. Raise your glasses and toast everyone with an August birthday. It’s what Ringo, George, John, and Paul would want. Never argue with them. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
