The Midnight Special: The Bee Gees, Chuck Berry & King Crimson

Wolfman Jack is never listed as the host of The Midnight Special, but he was. I met the Wolfman when I was a student newshound for the San Mateo Hi. He smoked incessantly during the interview with myself and other high school music writers. I asked him why and he claimed that smoking gave him his trademark gravelly voice. What can ya do?

This episode aired on 10-12-1973. It was guest hosted by The Bee Gees and featured a wildly eclectic lineup: Chuck Berry, Lee Michaels, King Crimson, Apple and Appleberry, and Barbara Mason. There was a Monty Python sketch that was removed for copyright reasons. Bummer, man.

If you want to hop around, watch the video on YouTube. Why? The Bee Gees do a number with Chuck Berry. That’s why.
