And I guess when you say that you want the discourse to be more grown up and more intelligent, I agree with you on intelligent. I don’t necessarily agree with you on grown up. I think there’s room for all sorts of different kinds of discourse including satire, including teasing, including humor.
There’s a lot of different ways to talk about stuff and Americans absorb things in a lot of different ways.

Even tho’ I am a straight gal and I LURRRRVES me my flannel jammies and my baggy tee-shirts (and my ex beaus used to like them too – so take that pricey La Perla…! ;))!
It just hasn’t been cool enough to justify wearing them in the Houston heat & humidity. Soon, maybe even this weekend???

I threw up a little in my mouth when David Frum quoted Gandhi, then went on to defend John McCain doing nothing while people yell “Kill him!” in his audience. David Frum is a douchemook. Rachel Maddow IS all that and a bag of chips.
