Woohoo! FR is back! It was hard going a whole five hours with no FR.

I get pretty off-kilter when FR is down. It feels like being cut off from the world.

There you have it in a nutshell.
They can’t survive unless surrounded by people who “think” like they do – because they’re confused and frightened when presented with the real world..
They think FRisthe world, and not just a laughing academy for the fringe right.

To: Windflier

OK, better now. I can slow down my breathing and remove the paper bag from my mouth. . . .

No, no, no! It’s aplastic bag, not a paper one. And it goes over thehead, not the mouth.
And don’t forget the rubber bands.

To:TexasRepublic
It was a boring lunchtime today.

Half my coffee time was spoiled when FR suddenly went off the air. I really hate relying on Drudge and reading the comments sections of the articles he links to.

What he means is: “I hate that Drudge sometimes links to actual news sites, where the commenters don’t adhere to my twisted word-view.”

Still, this wasn’t a bad one, as far as FR outages go.

I work in a supposedly high availability environment where outages are supposed to be impossible yet they happen nonetheless. Our client pays through the nose.

Ya can’t have a 100% availability in an environment that continuously changes.

FR is generally available. I don’t know if they engineer for it I’m just curious.

As of this writing, Libyan dictator Mommar Qadaffi has flown the coup. The rebels have taken Tripoli and this stage of the Libyan Civil War is over, thanks to the United States, mostly.

You say that like it’s abadthing.

In the coming days, Chairman Obama’s sycophants in the arrogant and lazy press are going to paint this as some sort of “great victory for Democracy”. Chris “I’ll Have Another Drink” Matthews (H/T Mark Levin) will get thrills up both his legs, rather than one.

It never ceases to amaze me how much time and effort Freepers put into obsessing over other mens’ legs and genitalia.

FreudOnVacation

Rachel Maddcow will tell us tales about how our Dear Leader stood up to those pests Congress who kept insisting that the United States should concentrate on the two wars it’s already involved in. I’m sure Keith Olbermann will be doing his happy dance for all eight of Current TV’s viewers.

Olbermann’s your daddy. And your Daddy don’t dance. Your Momma don’t rock and roll, but that’s a whole nother story.

Happy days have returned to the People’s Republic of Progressivakia! Seig heil, Fuhrer Obama! All hail Progressivakian Imperialism! Hope and Che for all! 2+2=5!

Do I detect just a tinge of bitterness here?

Now, let me be among the first to ask this very, very important question: Exactly what did we win?

Sure, the victims of Pan Am 103 get some justice. I’m all for that. Mommar Qadaffiduck was a state sponsor of terror and a vile piece of excrement that the world doesn’t need in power. There’s no question that the world is .0000000000001% safer with Qadaffiduck not in power.

Excersize for the reader: Replace Quadafi references above with “Saddam Hussein”.

But the answer to the question above is:

Nothing. We have won nothing.

Despite this “victory”, unemployment will still be at 9.2% for the foreseeable future. The housing market will still be dead. Gas prices will still be absurd. The stock market will still be as schizophrenic as Ron Paul’s cyberstormtroopers. American troops will still risking their lives in Iraq and Trashcanistan. Uncle Sam will still be drowning in red ink, and oh yes, the American people will still beoppressed impressed by the Big Mommy Regime in Washington DC.

FIFY

In other words, nothing will change, other than fact that America will be footing the bill for all kinds of goodies for the Libyan people.

(Reuters) – The United States is keeping in place for now a freeze onbillions of dollars of Libyan government assets, although the Treasury Department is considering how to provide financial assistance to rebel groups, an Obama administration official said on Monday.

The American tax payer will be paying for roads, bridges, schools, and kinds of “shovel-ready projects” in Libya that they will never use or benefit from, much like in Iraq and Trashcanistan. (While I support the wars in both places, I do not support the way they are being fought. Either fight to win or don’t bother fighting. This winning “hearts and minds” crap is one of the big reasons The War on Terror is entering its 10th year.

So basically, we should just invade and kill every man, woman and child in the country.

Fuck, even Hitler couldn’t pull that one off.

I don’t blame this on the brave men and women who are serving in those hell holes,

Soldier-middle-finger

I blame the squeamish politicians who are directing the war. Yeah, I know, I’m a heartless “neocon imperialist”.

IfTheShoeFits

Blah, blah, blah. Yadda, yadda, yadda.) The American taxpayer will have his taxes raised so his wealth can be redistributed to the “worthy” Libyans.

I read an article that said that they recently found huge
deposits of gold in Libya. Also read some where that Qaddafi
was sitting on 14 tons of gold. I don’t guess that and the
timing off it all would have anything to do with it.

I’d give the Libyans the benefit of the doubt. Look at the live feed from Al Jazz.

If this were Cairo the jubilant mobs would be busy raping the reporterettes. That’s not happening in Green Square.

I’m with Pajamas Media’s Michael J. Totten. The Muslim Brotherhood did NOT plan out or anticipate the “Arab Spring”. They are NOT in charge of events.

According to him the Brotherhood has proven unable to get out in front. The Brotherhood poobah he was given to interview was a comically braindead, sclerotically ideological, ranting old dolt who couldn’t inspire a rally in a phone booth.

Now that Egyptians suddenly have a plethora of political parties and information sources to choose from, the Brotherhood has become obsolete overnight and the more ambitious, energetic leaders have already jumped ship to start their own outfits.

As for Libya, they have never been a factor over there.

Time for one more – how aboutDismal Field of Dreams?

The Dismal GOP FieldThe American Thinker ^ | Matt Patterson

Posted on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 8:52:31 AM byharpu

Let me get this straight: The conservative presidential field includes (1) the father of a socialized medicine regime every bit as disastrous as Obamacare, but who thinks his was OK because it was at the state level, (2) a woman who, in spite of having no interest in the subject, studied tax law because her husband told her to, and (3) a man who think it’s OK if Iran gets nukes.

Holy crap. Romney, Bachmann, and Paul respectively seem to have distinguished themselves primarily by displaying astonishingly poor judgment. No wonder everyone is salivating over Rick Perry, hoping and praying he is the second coming (Perry himself is leading the prayer service). He may or may not be; like most Americans, I am just getting acquainted with the Texan.

One thing’s for sure, however – conservatives deserve better candidates than the current crop, or at the very least more options. So for Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, or anyone else thinking of getting into the race, my advice is: Do it. There’s room for you. There are a lot of conservative voters looking at the buffet and wishing they had ordered the fish (I don’t know what that means either).

Run Sarah, RUN!!

One thing the writer isn’t admitting…Republicans running are far better than anything the Democrats have. All we have to do is refine what we’ve got.

I think you’re too late. What you’ve got has already been pretty much refined down to its essence.

To: harpu

I think the dismal part is Romney and Perry leading the pack so far – that is very distressing to me I have to admit.

I harbor a little more pity for Freepers after today’s installment. I can’t help but think how deperate and pathetic one must be to completely put your identity and self-esteem into a two bit website. It goes down for 5 hours and they are having panic attacks?
Thanks, Tommy. You made me feel sorry for a Freeper. Thanks a lot.
Though on second thought, given their proclivities, I am surprised they don’t have some sort of Freeper Emergency Response Network that springs into action when this happens. You know, some sort of combination of carrier pigeon, ham radio, wind talkers, and psychic connection networks.
Apologies to ham operators out there – it just kind of fits (73, KD8GEG).
