Happy Independence Day weekend, good people!
You know that Freeperville has been awash in tributes to our veterans on this joyous anniversary.
Right?
Firework displays are pretty but can stress veterans with PTSD

Many families look forward to Fourth of July celebrations that typically include delicious food and fireworks. While there’s nothing wrong with observing the day, it’s important to keep those who served in mind, as they might struggle with post-traumatic stress.
The nonprofit Military with PTSD is hoping to raise awareness about the effects fireworks can have on men and women who served in the military. Unfortunately noisemakers and firework displays used to commemorate our nation’s independence can oftentimes be the very things that cause emotional distress on combat veterans.
To: Berlin_Freeper“No veteran that served the United States wants to take a freedom away from people, especially fireworks, which represent freedom. What they’re asking for is for people to give them a heads-up.”
Heads-up! For over 200, years people have celebrated with fireworks on July 4th in the United States. How did the combat veterans of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam deal with each and every July 4th celebration after they returned?

Obviously.
To: Berlin_Freeper
To: Flag_This; Dallas59It’s good to hear from the experts: you two must have served in combat to have such well-formed opinions.
On the other hand, there’s my experience. I served for 17 months in direct combat in Vietnam and I hated fireworks displays, at least the ones that included those damn aerial bombs.
You see what your lives would be like if, for a significant period of your lives you had to stare at the ground ahead of you intently to try to avoid getting blown apart or had to dread that first steel-door slam of a mortar round hitting near you. Worse, try to imagine what it would be like to be able to hear the screams mixed into the bang when someone near you was caught in the blast.
You spend decades diving under things when a blast catches you by surprise, ducking your head down into your shoulders if you’re more prepared.
I voluntarily committed myself to more combat even after being hit badly and nearly a year in the hospital rebuilding my body.
I never cheated my family out of their 4th of July fireworks but I hated how it felt.
But I’m sure that your experience was better than mine.

First-degree felony charges to be sought against Texas AG Ken Paxton
Dallas Morning News ^ | 01 July 2015 | GROMER JEFFERS JR. Posted on 7/1/2015 10:00:59 PM by texas booster
A special prosecutor said Wednesday that he’ll ask a Collin County grand jury to indict Texas Attorney Ken Paxton on first-degree felony charges of violating state securities law.
The prosecutor, Houston defense attorney Kent Schaffer, says a Texas Rangers investigation of Paxton revealed that the attorney general broke laws beyond what he admitted to last year, when he was fined $1,000 by the State Securities Board.
“That’s what we intend to present to the grand jury,” said Schaffer of a first-degree felony case. “We have a sufficient amount of evidence. Whether it leads to a criminal indictment or not is up to the grand jury.”
Last year, Paxton admitted to the Texas State Securities Board that while he was in the Legislature, he solicited clients for a friend’s investment firm without being registered with the state. He paid a $1,000 fine and was reprimanded by the board.
Paxton solicited the clients in 2004, 2005 and 2012 while serving as a Republican state representative for a Collin County district. The question of criminal violations has yet to be addressed, though Paxton describes the incidents as an administrative error.

This seems like even more of an overreach than the Perry pseudo case for threatening a drunk DA.Any one have any insight as to what is going on?
To: CraziemanThis is total BS and Hillary Clinton gets off for true felonies. Makes me sick. The USA is in a bad state right now with the liberals in control of everything. Why don’t the republicans act like this DA and demand that Hillary be indicted? I’m sick of these criminals.

First degree felony is murder, rape, drugs, not an ethics violation which is all this really is.
Well, he was apparently getting a split of commissions received by the investment councilor to whom he was steering clients while he was serving as Attorney General. The two of them were keeping the fee-splitting arrangement a secret.
So basically the Attorney General of Texas was acting as a confidential sales rainmaker for an investment firm, and was getting a kickback for his efforts.
If all that is true, it strikes me as being not too cool.
Funny, it strikes me as being a felony.
I wouldn’t be bothered if Democrats got anything within a thousand miles of the same treatment, but that’s a joke as we all know.

Looking for a place he hasn’t been kicked out of yet?
Why isn’t he demanding Hillary be prosecuted?

First of thousands of Syrians Resettled in ….. North Texas
Pamela Geller ^ | 4/11/2015 | Pamela Geller Posted on 4/11/2015 10:08:49 PM by sheikdetailfeather
The FBI admits that they cannot properly screen the Syrians, while the US State Department is telling the media that 10,000 Syrians will be here soon. Syria, home of the Islamic State.
Al hijrah, jihad by immigration.
And while the genocide of Christians is ongoing in Syria, over 90% of the Syrians who are being brought to America are Muslims. It’s a catastrophe. The top five states targeted for Syrian Muslim resettlement are California, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Meanwhile, dozens of American jihadis who fought in the war in Iraq and Syria have returned to the United States, equipped with the training they used fighting either for or against ISIS, according to one federal official.
Maybe the State Department can reunite these two very similar Muslim groups.

Agree. They didn’t ask me. I wonder what Gov Gregg Abbott will say/has to say about this.

Wait for the world wide caliphate. The future gun battles should prove interesting.

Refugee industry? And all this time I thought it was “leisure services”?
puts its most appealing refugees (like these cute girls) out for PR campaigns. The mainstream media eats it up!
Those sneaky, conniving little refugee girls, acting all cute and everything! Damn them!
Eight Syrian refugee families call North Texas home right now — four in Dallas and four in Fort Worth.
Oh no – I’m SURROUNDED!
But Basatneh [Syrian American Council] said more are on their way after the U.S. State Department agreed to accept as many as 10,000.

Well, at least the Freepers haven’t figured out the connection between the Syrian refugee influx and Jade Helm. But when they do it will be far. too. late.
They are not the swiftest armadillos on the highway.
I just love that they’re bitching about the new Texas residents being able to get guns so easily.
Funny, that.
Do you get a feeling over time looking at this lunacy that the sensible comments have increased or decreased?
Or is it always the same ratio, just with altered targets to keep it fresh?
Actually, the sensible comments have increased over time.
I always try to feature them, but mostly because they throw the usual lunacy into sharp(er) relief.
(see “too crazy even for the Freeperati”)
Glad to hear it!
Yay, anagrams list. It totally rocks.
Chickenhawks are the worst. Love the vet who shot them down. My father was a WWII vet who hated guns as a result of his service. Guess that made him a whiner in the eyes of the Freepers.
