The end goal is to keep Americans safe by having reasonable vetting procedures in place to screen out potential Jihadists among Muslim migrants. The goal hasn’t changed, and the policy means towards attaining it were always going to be mutable.

I’m just taking Trump at his spoken word…
His first statement was pretty clear on what he wanted to do and why…just like you posted…I agree with it…
Now it’s a Suggestion….because it’s almost impossible to implement…
He changed his position….not very surprising, expect lots more position changes as he gets to understand how Congress works and the Byzantine laws we operate under, some by legislation or court ordered…
For some strange reason his most ardent supporters think he can bypass Congress, current laws, court decisions to keep his promises…
I’m sure he will try, but it’s a huge task to make good on promises he made off the top of his head…

Trump seems to be moving left on one issue after another. Yes, he is as undisciplined verbally as he is mentally, and anything he says has to be taken with a grain of salt, as nothing more than an improvisation of the moment. But … is there ANY issue on which he has shifted to the right?
