Lemon Squeezed By ICE

I had no idea what Don Lemon was up to until he was arrested by Team MAGA. Apparently, he’s turned to Substack and podcasting, which is the 21st Century way.

The arrest order was announced by DOJ chief content creator Pam Bondi who mounted her virtual podium to say this:

“Our nation was settled and founded by people fleeing religious persecution. Religious freedom is the bedrock of this country. We will protect our pastors. We will protect our churches. We will protect Americans of faith.”

Isn’t that special? Invoking part of the First Amendment to attack another part. Protecting free speech should rank above protecting some MAGA-fied church and its ICE-hole pastor, but in Pam Bondi’s America it does not.

The MAGA DOJ is compiling a record of performative prosecutions. Its new slogan could be, Perp Walks R Us:

The department announced criminal charges against three of the demonstrators: Nekima Levy Armstrong, Chauntyll Allen, and William Kelly. It did so in a manner designed to be maximally humiliating to the defendants—instead of allowing the three to turn themselves in, federal agents arrested and handcuffed them, and the Department of Homeland Security, along with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, published photos of the perp walk on X. (DOJ’s internal rulebook, known as the Justice Manual, bars department employees from sharing a defendant’s photograph in this way.) Not to be outdone, the White House published an apparently AI-altered version of Levy Armstrong’s photo, adding tears to her face and darkening her skin. Levy Armstrong, like Allen, Lemon, and Fort, is Black.”

It doesn’t matter to Bondi and her minions that this indictment will never stand. It’s headed to the vindictive prosecution junk yard where it will join the Comey and James cases on the MAGA scrap heap.

Convictions are not the point. The MAGA DOJ’s agenda is to please one man. Seeing Don Lemon perp walked made the Insult Comedian’s day. He needed some good news; the roof is caving in on Project Dictator. In their early stages, dictatorships require public support, which is slipping away from Team MAGA. Trump is so desperate that he used the word bipartisan the other day.

Undermining free speech and journalistic activity is what the arrest of Don Lemon is all about. I’ve never been a Lemon fan but that’s irrelevant. Live streaming a protest is not a crime except in Pam Bondi’s America. The church had the right to remove protesters, but Bondi doesn’t have the right to criminalize free speech to distract from her suspect handling of the Epstein Files.

I recently called Trump, the Don of Distraction. Pam Bondi is the Duchess of Distraction.

Remember when the Kaiser of Chaos and former Reich Chancellor Musk used to bang on about free speech? To use one of Trump’s favorite words, it was a hoax. They only support speech they agree with. I stand with Mr. Justice Black on this issue:

Hugo Black was from Alabama, so he was familiar with the face of American tyranny. Every time I hear someone say that America isn’t like this, I think of the Jim Crow South and its lingering vestiges. Black Americans know what I’m saying: They deal with mini-Bondis and mini-Trumps all the time. The threat to their safety and freedom was always there but it’s worse now with the President and Attorney General openly siding with the forces of oppression. That’s a fact, not a hoax.
