Trouble in Paradise

From Holden:

Former Republican Congressman/US Trade Representative/Current Condi Deputy Robert Zoellick is about to throw a tantrum.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick is close to quitting after failing to be promoted to Treasury Secretary and has been in talks about a job with Wall Street firms, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

Zoellick is seeking to exit after growing frustrated with the No. 2 job at the State Department, where he has overseen the Darfur peace negotiations for the Bush administration, the newspapers said.

In addition, he was disappointed after President George W. Bush failed to name him to succeed John Snow as Treasury Secretary, the reports said. Snow’s departure has long been rumored, but he has so far confounded expectations by hanging on to the top economic post.
