Polly Wants A Cracker?

Republikkkan Congressman Adam Putnam wants to be the House GOP conference chair. But he sure has afunny way of collecting votes.

“White rednecks” who “didn’t show up to vote for us” partly cost GOPers their cong. majorities, Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL) told fellow Republicans today.

[snip]

Putnam’s chief of staff, John Hambel, said his boss has used the word “redneck” only in the context of sharing polling data from last week’s elections. Hambel said Putnam was listing off different constituencies and ended with saying: “Heck, we even had rednecks who go to church who didn’t come out to vote.”

I’m thinking Putnam should not count on any support from Congressmen who represent rural districts.

  1. You know, somehow I seriously doubt the actual poll said redneck. I can see it saying rural, farmer, etc.
Or, in homage to Jeff Foxworthy, was question number 1 on the poll:
    Demographic Data:
How many cars do you have in your driveway? How many in your front lawn? How many run? How many are flower planters?
BTW – I live in a rural area, my ancestors were rural farmers. Above is strictly in good natured fun.

  2. Adam Putnam is from Lakeland, Florida and a good number of his constituents are rednecks, er, rural agricultural types.
I suspect that they are not offended.
