Today on Athenae’s Obsession with the Freepi: Official Post Edition

Via Oliver Willis, here’s some Freepi fun. Nicholas Thompson, who works for the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives, posts on Free Republic about the immigration bill. The responses are, shall we say, not kind:

Hi, Nicholas. We will be able to have a reasonable discussion only AFTER you close the borders, build a wall, make Mexico pay for the criminals they have sent us, make Mexico pay for medical care for their citizens, and send employers to jail who have violated the law.

Until the President has proven he has taken his oath of office seriously in this matter, go pound sand.

WHERE’S THE FENCE?

The most ignorant is thinking that he [President Bush] cares about what we think. He ALREADY knows – from the last amnesty. He already told us that we don’t know what’s good for America. And he already told our Senators to ignore us when they go home and face their irate constituents.

Tony Snow must have clued the White House in on FR’s influence.
This “need to engage the blogosphere” strategy— that’s some funny shit.
Poor Freepi are suffering PTSD big time: They are being forced to relive high school trauma, back when the cheerleaders and jocks suddenly, for the week preceding the election for class officers, would “engage” the lower strata of freaks and geeks, then disappear just as quickly.

I was just thinking that it’s a funny turn of events when the OSI decides to wade into Free Republic in order to engage with the common man.
