Oranges & Lemonswas an all out attempt by XTC and Geffen records to have a hit record. It didn’t quite work out that way BUT it should have. It’s also one of the best collections of songs from Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, Dave Gregory and company.

The cover art was inspired by a 1966Milton Glaser advertisement for radio station WOR. Glaser, of course, is the artist who did the psychedelic poster for the upcoming season of Mad Men. AllMusic.com has a long list of who contributed to the cover design, which I’m too lazy to post. Suffice it to say that I think the cover art is swell:
