That’s (Not) Entertainment

It’s time for another reminder why I call him the Insult Comedian:

Donald Trump on Wednesday chalked up his long history of making insulting comments about women to “entertainment.”

“A lot of that was done for the purpose of entertainment,” the Republican nominee told Las Vegas’ KSNV-TV. “I can tell you this: There is nobody — nobody — that has more respect for women than I do.”

Asked about his habit of rating women on a scale from 1-10 and criticizing their bodies, Trump attributed his comments to his public persona as host of NBC’s “Apprentice.”

“You know, you’re in the entertainment business. You’re doing ‘The Apprentice.’ You have one of the top shows on television. And you say things differently for a reason,” Trump said.

It started when he became a reality teevee star in 2004? Not according to Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter who has known Trump since the 1980’s. Carter was the one who called Trump “a short-fingered vulgarian” while at Spy Magazine.  In 1993, Carter invited Trump to the Nerd Prom as a guest of Vanity Fair:

Novelty guests don’t know they’re novelty guests. They just think they’re guests. That evening in May 1993, Vanity Fair had two tables and we filled them with the likes of Christopher Hitchens, Bob Shrum, Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg, Peggy Noonan, Tipper Gore, and Vendela Kirsebom, a Swedish model who professionally went by her first name and who was then at or near the top of the catwalk heap. I sat Trump beside Vendela, thinking that she would get a kick out of him. This was not the case. After 45 minutes she came over to my table, almost in tears, and pleaded with me to move her. It seems that Trump had spent his entire time with her assaying the “tits” and legs of the other female guests and asking how they measured up to those of other women, including his wife. “He is,” she told me, in words that seemed familiar, “the most vulgar man I have ever met.”

Vendela is a smart woman. Donald J. Trump has been an Insult Comedian his entire life. That’s NOT entertainment but this is:

That made me feel better, let’s do it again. This time with Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher:

Same title, different tune. My Jam today is to provide an Oasis for my readers…

UPDATE: I was proud of this post but it was dated within an hour by the Access Hollywood tape. The shit really hit the fan. Good; couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. As always, the New York Daily News sums it up best:

Consider that bonus catblogging. Oscar and Della approve this message.

UPDATE TOO: Here’s Trump’s second non-apology apology. Sounds like Rudy and Roger Stone were in the room.
