Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – Back In Blecch edition

OK – back in the saddle. I’m going to TRY to ease back into this, but I have a horrendous backlog of bookmarks to plough through.

First up – SOROS’s FAULT!!

Holocaust Denier Likely to Represent GOP on Illinois Congressional Ballot KSBW ^ | 2/5 Posted on 2/5/2018, 4:48:13 PM by nickcarraway

A long-shot candidate with a history of anti-Semitic statements and Holocaust denial is primed to represent the Republican Party in a congressional race in Illinois.

The candidate, Arthur Jones, is running unopposed in the GOP primary for Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District,

His website contains sections such as “Holocaust?” which features a statement that says “there is no proof such a so-called ‘Holocaust’ ever took place anywhere in Europe, against the Jews.”

“I’m sorry I voted for the son of a b****, I really am,” Jones told the Guardian.

I’m sure this will provoke some deep soul-searching among the Freeperati as to why Nazis feel so at home in the GOP.

This guy is so bad I wouldn’t be surprised to find he’s a Soros plant.

Just kidding. You need to have a soul to do any soul-searching.

This guy is so bad I wouldn’t be surprised to find he’s a Soros plant.

This guy has run for the Republican nomination seven times since the 1990’s. You think Soros plans that far ahead?

“LurkingLibertarian” tries to Freepsplain this one away :

The GOP dropped the ball on this one.

More likely, no serious candidate from the GOP wanted to run in this district; it has voted Dem in 24 of the last 25 congressional elections and all four of the last four presidential elections. Bernie Sanders won the district by 8 points in the 2016 primary.

Then find a somewhat serious candidate that is not a Nazi.

Then find a somewhat serious candidate that is not a Nazi.

Well, you’d have to find one in the district.

Hard to find Republicans in a ghetto, even harder to find one that has the time and money to even run to lose.

Um – about that “ghetto”…

Hard to find Republicans in a ghetto,

The district is 74% white.

White House asks for Van Gogh loan – but museum offers gold toilet instead The Guardian ^ | 1/25/18 | Anon Posted on 1/25/2018, 5:53:40 PM by DoodleDawg

The Guggenheim Museum has reportedly turned down a White House request to borrow a Van Gogh painting, and has instead offered the Trump administration the use of a golden toilet.

The White House had asked the Guggenheim, based in New York, to borrow Landscape With Snow, Van Gogh’s 1888 work depicting a man and a dog walking through a field.

But the Guggenheim’s chief curator, Nancy Spector, turned down the request, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. Instead she said the White House could loan an 18-carat toilet – an installation by artist Maurizio Cattelan.

The fully functioning toilet, titled America, was installed in the Guggenheim in September 2016. It was available for public use, and tens of thousands of people obliged. But with the exhibition over, Spector saw that the toilet could now potentially serve the president.

Spector’s emailed reply to the White House’s request to loan Landscape with Snow was obtained by the Post. The veracity of the email, which was sent on September 15, was confirmed to the newspaper by the Guggenheim. The museum did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s request for comment.

Spector wrote that America was available, “should the President and First Lady have any interest in installing it in the White House”.

What an unbelievably crass, insulting, and tasteless act on the part of the Guggenheim.

Isn’t it, now??
Yes – I know that it’s actually Lam Sai-wing’s
Urban Legend / apocryphal toilet, but just indulge me.
To: DoodleDawg

Isn’t guggenheim a New York slang expression for toilet?

No, but “trump Tower” is.
To: DoodleDawg

Trump should borrow it. Then return it to the Guggenheim with a few steamers in it.

…because he’s classy that way….

That will increase it’s artistic value as an “installation”…

Really. A few fresh brown trout would get Nancy’s attention.

Undoubtedly the Museum receives federal funds for something. Cease the funding.

“Undoubtedly the Museum receives federal funds for something. Cease the funding.”

Guggenheim has revenue of $90 million per year.

Otherwise, OK?
Then, the Freepers start to get truculent ….
To: DoodleDawg

Who cares what the Guggenheim and their overrated art history major thinks, honestly?

Well, from reading this thread, I’m going to go out on a limb and say “you guys”.

There are without question better artists out there, who have never been and maybe never will be heard of in the world of elitist idiots,

…but enough about The Darnold….

that are much more creative and talented than many of those artists the Guggenheim features. What on Earth makes these people think they are ‘special’? Really.

So we’re back to that, are we?
This is where I came in.
Thanks for checking in, good people – I know I’ve been AWOL the last few weeks, but bursting discs and the resulting horrendous nerve pain paralyzed your humble narrator, and got me a fun ambulance ride to the E.R., and some fantastic drugs.
Getting better very rapidly now, so no worries.
See you good people next Monday!
