Good morning, gentle people – it’s not been a Very Good Week for The Darnold, but nothing (including the now never-ending Freepathon) is gonna get the Freeperati down!
Last week it was :
Trump tells Pelosi he plans to proceed with State of the Union next week
fox news ^ | 1/23/2019 | ALex pappasPosted on 1/23/2019, 12:06:13 PM by bitt
President Trump told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a new letter Wednesday that he still plans to deliver next week’s scheduled State of the Union address from the House floor even though Pelosi urged him to delay the speech because of the government shutdown.
The president, in his letter, said there are “no security concerns” surrounding the event, in response to Pelosi raising that as a potential issue because of the partial shutdown.
“I look forward to seeing you on the evening on January 29th in the Chamber of the House of Representatives,” Trump wrote. “It would be so very sad for our country if the State of the Union were not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!”
To: bittHe’s trolling her…. Daring Nancy to say “no.” again.
If she does, he’ll change the venue—and make her look like an obstructionist
If she relents, he also looks the stronger one, and she petty.

Trump: I will deliver State of the Union ‘when the shutdown is over
The Hill ^ | January 23, 2019 | MARY TYLER MARCHPosted on 1/23/2019, 10:31:19 PM by be-baw
President Trump said late Wednesday that he would deliver his State of the Union address after the ongoing partial government shutdown is over.
“As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address,” Trump wrote in a tweet. “I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative – I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over.”
Trump clarified earlier statements suggesting he may do an “alternative” State of the Union, writing that he was not seeking an alternative venue because “there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber.”
“I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!” he added.

I guess that’s settled.
To: be-bawI am disappointed in him for this.

To: be-bawWhy did he cave?Does he REALLY expect that crazy Nancy is going to give in on ANYTHING re the wall? If he does, then he’s just NUTS and hasn’t managed to learn anything in these past 2 years!
And IF he give up/caves on the wall, he’s in real trouble with the base.
To: KaslinLet’s hope Ann Coulter wakes him up.
To: j.havenfarmDo you care about a stupid boring speech, that no one will remember two weeks later, or do you care about a wall?Prioritize

To: conservative98Sometimes old guys lose a tad off their fastball, but they keep hiring the other old guys they used to depend upon or respect—not realizing that those guys have fallen a fair bit farther off their respective peaks.
I think there is a little bit of that in Trump.

To: conservative98I have watched Rudy representing Trump or his positions over the past couple of years. It is my opinion that he is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, or something similar. He just isn’t the same guy that he used to be. Sad.

To: conservative98I was in the minority, but I said on DAY 1 that Rudy was a huge mistake. Rudy is out for Rudy. He is an evil mam who pioneered the techniques of criminalizing political foes & inspired the likes of Comey, etc.
Trump’s greatest weakness is the team he picks.

Ruminations of an Old Fart(vanity) Posted on 1/21/2019, 8:33:35 AM by 2nd Amendment
These are some vain thoughts from a “seasoned” citizen about how American Society should be run if I was a dictator. 1. After the 14 foot wall is built and razor-wired with electricity all border guards should be commanded to shoot on sight any attempt at illegal crossing. 2. Every school should be required to have a quota of concealed carry trained teachers in the classroom. 3. The only immigrants allowed in this country should be of Jewish or Christian origin 4. Food stamps should only be used to buy 100 lb sacks of flour, sugar, cured meat. 5. All American yutes should be required to join ROTC and do 2 yrs. service defending our country. 6. The job of our military should be to detere nuclear nuthouse powers not “nation building. 7. Black History month should venerate Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell,James Beckwourth 8. All druggies (with the possible exception of Marijuana) should be put in labor camps or in the case of dealers-executed. 9.Any school or institution or professional who teaches yutes that there are more than 2 sexes should be fired. 10. Any athlete who refuses to stand for the pledge should be immediately fired and fined. 11. Any reporter who intentionally lies or distorts the truth should be immediately fired and the network cancelled. 12. Welfare should be administered on an at-need basis by local churches. 13. Every American should be required to own a firearm and be proficient with it (preferably a semiautomatic AR-15) I could go on and on with my more radical ideas but this will suffice for now.
To: 2nd AmendmentSounds extreme, but I’ll play along for the sake of discussion, which you wouldn’t allow under your dictatorship. In that vain, how do you expect to become the “dictator” to be a able to carry out all of your “fantasies”? At the point of a gun?
Because unless you are Maduro in Venezuela, or Castro in Cuba or Little Fat Boy in North Korea who control the elections in their favor through armed force and intimidation, you would never be able get elected the way we do it here. Which dictator in history do you aspire to emulate?
You probably don’t see the irony is wanting to be a dictator in a country that was founded on freedoms, which your “dictatorship” would eliminate.
Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely. Without checks and balances, laws, and proper institutions in place, tyrants and dictators will consolidate power and cause a tremendous amount of suffering and death to its populace.
My advice is to go back to sleep and dream of some other way to “rule” the country that prides itself on individual freedoms and limited government.

I guess all the “Trump caves on shutdown” reaction hasn’t quite gotten to full bloom yet, so saving for next week? Should be EPIC.
Actually, it blew up after I completed this post early Friday morning, and this one was already too long.
Weren’t they banning people who supported Giuliani for president in 2008? Also, I think one of my favorite quotes about Rudy is by Bill Maher, that his bottom teeth look like someone flew a plane into them.
“Weren’t they banning people who supported Giuliani for president in 2008? ”
Yep.
