It’s time for my annual exercise in egomania. It was a tough year for me, but I’ve gone over that in sufficient detail already. That’s why the first post detailing my ordeal did not make the cut. Who needs to be reminded of that? Not me but y’all might so here’s the link to Diary Of A Human Cushion.
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to it. For the fourth consecutive year, it’s a top 40 list but it was still hard to pare down. I have omitted Saturday Odds & Sods and Irksome Things posts from consideration as they’re sui generis. I’m not sure who sui is, so sue me.
Not only was 2024 a tough year for me personally, it was a bad year for the country and the world. One of the down sides of being a satirist is that bad news is good for satire, and we had a boatload of bad news in 2024. Do I need to belabor that point? I thought not.
One of the posts below Lowbrow Humor, Wicked Satire was my submission to the annual Jon Swift Roundup. Thanks to Batocchio for keeping that satirical tradition alive. Does that make him a 21st Century Tevye? Discuss amongst yourselves.
Enough with the introductory blather, I give you The Best Of Adrastos 2024.

Last year, a reader asked why there was no musical last word for this annual post. Good question. Here’s my answer: The last word goes to Frank Sinatra and Count Basie.

👏👏 I remembered a lot of these, but gonna revisit each to remind myself why I enjoy visiting every day! Looking forward to 2025…for your blog and for little else I’m afraid! 😬
Thanks. Have a safe and happy New Years.
